Carmel Irrigation Company's diversion dam have been irrigated, the flow of water into the hole excavated for the structure has increased considerably. The contractor had to install another pump to keep the water level down to where they could continue work. Jack Mognett finished le cling the field north of Kanab for Burton McAllister, Before Jack got his equipment off the field, Burtons son, Norman, had it disced and planted to small grain. It is always a good Idea to plant small grain, or some non permanent crop after leveling. This gives you a chance to knock off some of the high places and fill up the places that settle after the land has been irrigated. Wednesday of this week, I went with Mark Swapp to look over a fence that Lynn Findlay plans to build on his ranch at Podunk. Lynn plans to fence out a pasture and defer it every year until fall. He will use it as a holding during fall round ups. By putting in a pasture such as this, and deferring grazing until after the growing season, he called for the installation of a steel pipe. Steel pipe was not available, so the contractor asked if it would be permissable to use corrugated metal pipe. This was OKed, but we neglected to change the spacing on the supports. As a result, there is a big sag in the center of the flume, and it will be necessary to add another support.
