Judd. rancher and farmer in the Arizona Strip Country for the nast 55 years, died Sunday room-'nat hla home In Fredonia. He had been ill for four months. Mr. Judd was born November 2. 1885 in Kanab a son of Zodak Knapp and Ada Howell Judd. He moved to Fredonia when 16 years f age. He was married to Elizabeth Church on June 2, 1902. She passed away in 1943. Mr. Judd re married April 12, 1948 to Jane Johnson of Kanab. He was the Coconino County deputy assessor for 16 years and worked on the North Kaibab for 17 years in the mploy of the US Forest Service. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Lattef-daSaints and served as bishop of the Fredon-- , ia ward for 9 years. He did graduate work at the University of Southern California, and completed his advanced work at Indiana University. Dr. Heaton was a teacher and principal In the Uintah School District for three years. He was Intramural director and instructor in physical education at Utah State, and from 1942 to 1943 headed the physical education department at Carbon College. During World War II he served as a physical reconditioning officer for the United States Air Corps, resuming hla teaching duties at Utah State in 1946. Last fall he went to Los Angeles State College as an associate professor of recreation. The new department head is married to the former Arline Hardy of Vernal, and the couple have thrqe daughter?. |
