Show June SOUTHERN UTAH NEWS, K&nab, Utah vmtm THE KITCHEN KUTUPS This is the third meeting of the Kitchen Kutups. The first and second were held at Peggy Lawsons home. There we elected our officers: Pres. Katie Johnson, sec-an- d treas., Lori Fox; reporter, Kelli Robinson; Song leader, Amy Barnson. Our teachers are Lenna Robinson and Peggy Lawson. The third meeting was held at Lenna Robinsons home. There we learned to make egg sandwiches. EIGHT ABLE APRONS May 29 the Eight Able Aprons cooking club of Orderville met at the home of our leader, Virginia Esplin at 10 a.m. Our assignment was to make muffins. We also worked in our workbooks. Frost Mardean Church Dealton Frost Georgia Lunt Pauline Lunsford Former resident succumbs in Salt Lake City Graham B. McAllister, 90, of St. George, and former resident of this area died May 31 hi Salt Lake City of causes incident to age. He was bom March 4, 1880, at Fredonia to William James Frazier and Angeline Brown McAllister. He married Sarah Aseneth Chamberlain, October 4, 1905 in the Salt Lake Endowment House. She died February 25, 1926. Mr. McAllister married Louise Henry Skinner of Gunlock March 4, 1954. He served as a missionary for the LDS Church to the souhtern states; he was a counselor in a ward bishopric; and spent much of his life as a carpenter. He is survived by his widow; sons, daughters, Leland, Delta; Edgar Clark, Las Vegas, Nev.; Kay LeRoy, Orem; Joseph Glen, Gunlock; Mrs. Angus (Lucy) Jones, St. George; Mrs. Noel (Veda) Baker, Scottsdale, A z.; 18 grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren; brothers, sisters, Seymour Y., Ogden; Wesley T., Mrs. Clara Shields, both of Kanab. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, June 3 at 10 a.m. in St George. Sorensen Sorensen, son Que, the BYU Frovo to Fredonia, Arizona There is a heavy infestation of analfa weevil in the alfalfa this spring. Along with the weevil there are quite a few pea aphids. The problem is, what do we do? In checking the alfalfa fields in Kanab area last week I found the hay about ready to cut. My recommendations would be to cut the hay as soon as possible and spray the stubble. Chemicals that can be used are Molothion, Para-thio- n n or a combination with or Guthion. Check the cost d per acre and the amount of involved before deciding. Be sure and read the label then follow directions. The Doug Talbots had to split Friday as Dougs brother was graduating in Panguitch and Kristies brother was graduating in Tropic. Mr. and Mrs. Arden Baird and family members went to Richfield Thursday to attend the graduation of their son Donald from Trade Tech. Mr. and Mrs. LeGrande C. Heaton and daughter, Susy, went to Salt Lake City to visit with the Jay Heatons. Mr. and Mrs. Sherrill Lamb and daughter visited at the Rolland Lamb home. Gary Clark and friends from Spanish Fork visited here over the weekend. Dr. and Mrs. Fen Covington and daughter visited at the Lu Covington home and with other family members. h Visiting at the Charles T. home was Nettie Dennett from Provo. Mr. and Mrs. Perry Lamb visited at the Joel Whites in Hurricane Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. B. P. Fisher attended the graduation exercises held at BYU Friday, May 29. Mr. and Mrs. Reed Fisher graduated, Reed with a bachelor of arts and Mary Ann with a bachelors degree in education. Mary Anns folks, Mr. and Mrs. Clayton and two daughters from Newport Beach, Calif., were there too. They visited with the B. P. Fishers Sunday night enroute to their home. John David Chamberlain, son of the Hugh Chamberlains also graduated. There are probably many more. It does ones heart good to see so many of the young folks further their education doesnt it? They were married in the St. George Temple May 29. Parents of Mr. Cundiff are Mr. and Mrs. James A. Cundiff of Ontario, Calif. Many of the young couples relatives were in attendance at the reception. Visitors at the John Hardy home were Mr. and Mrs. Duane Bolander and children and Mr. and Mrs. Keith Hardy and child from northern Utah. The idea being tried is to inject a chemical into the tree along the combium layer, just under the bark. The chemical is carried up to the The leaves with the chemical will be available so when the elm leave larvae feed on the leaf it will be killed.
