She will spend three days in Garfield County with the remainder two days of the week spent in Kane County. Usually, the davs for Kane County will be Wednesday, Thur-.daalthough, programs of work will be drawn up a month in advance so her whereabouts will be known to residents of both counties. Miss Olsen comes from Eph-aiHere she participated for twelve years in programs. In she won state awards in Health and Citizenship, receiving a trip to the National Club Congress in 1956. Since graduating from Utah State University she has taught Home Economics in Tooele and North Sanpete high schools. Her plans of work include the many areas involved in home making. Any desire for aid in these areas should be made known to the County Extension Service, then group or individual instruction will be given. The plans of the Extension Service is to give the newly developed research ideas and findings of the landgrant universities to the people living and working in the home and farms of our nation. Most of the students are getting accus tomed to getting up early and doing homework all the time. This really should be a good year for everyone. Jamie Spendlove has been appointed Studentbody President. Bob Gordon, who was elected to the office, cannot attend school at KIIS this year. Jamie was elected to the office or Vice President. Were sorry that Bob cannot return, but we're certain Jamie will prove to be a good president. The girls chosen, to represent KIIS as Larriettes are as follows. I Friday, September 13, proved to be a lucky day for the Cowboys. Kanab came home from Dixie with a winning score of 12 to 9. Both touchdowns were credited to Milton Ketchum, sophmore halfback. Kanabs defense played the better part of the game as they held the Flyers on their one yard line for two downs. Dixie acquired their score by a touchdown, a conversion and a safety. Were expecting to see our football team take the region if they keep up the good work. Kanab will meet Parowan in football here this Friday at 2:30. We want to encourage everyone to come out. We need help from the townspeople to keep our spirit and enthusiasm high. A Victory Dance sponsored by the Juniors will be held Friday evening. The Larriettes will sponsor a car wash in the hfgh school parking lot this Saturday at 10:00. They enjoyed the C. S. U. game against the Alumni and Kent helped Coach Overstreet in scouting the C. S. U. team which plays Eastern Arizona this week end at Thatcher, Arizona. Doyh K. Swallow, repoited. The Provo firms, bid wa: $2,500 lower than the seconc lowest bid iu a field of five. A brick buildinp with basement will be construe ted north of the Kanab Iligl School, in Kanab. It will pro vide two classrooms and office-fothe school district. Land scaping and equipment are no included in the bid. Iris Fan- - Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 17, 1963, for Wayne Albert (Slim) Lathim, 63, at Fredonia Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Ch. apel with Bishop Woodrow conducting. Burial followed in the family plot at Fredonia Cemetery. He died at 6.50 A.M. Sunday, September 15, Kane County Hospital, where he was taken after he suffered a severe stroke 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 13, at home, after coming off duty as deputy sheriff foFTre. donia area. lie had served nearly nine years as deputy for Sheriff Cecil Richardson of Coconino County. Prior to that, he worked for Kai. bab Lumber Company, the Arizona Game and Fish Department for twelve years as a warden, and also was a State Highway Department employee after co. ming to Fredonia in 1932. He was a guide for hunting parties on Kailjab Mountain for several years, and some of his recollections were concerned with the interesting adventures he had during these hunting trips. Wayne A. Lathim was bom July 23, 1900, at Springfield, Missouri, to BjTon Grafton La. thim and Mary Susan Owen. He was manned to Alta Statner on November 11, 1918, at Buff, alo, Oklahoma. She passed away in 1911 at Fredonia, they were the parents of two sons and two daughters, who survive. These are Darrell O. Lathim, Fredonia, Byron Grafton Lathim II, known as Whimp, Mrs. Philip O. (Wanda Jo) Skidmore, Chester, California, and Mrs. Max (Anna Eliza) Tait Fredonia. Fifteen grandchildren and two great grandchilren also survive. Two brothers, Robert LaVem, Fredonia, and Howard W. of Bosie, Idaho, a sister, Mrs. C. S. (Hazel A.) Martin, Modesto, Cal ifomia, and an adopted brother, Robert P. Owen, Flagstaff. Poehner, Chief Petty Officer will visit Kanab, Utah on the 24th of September from 10.00 A.M. to 12.00 A.M. Chief Poehner is the recruiting officer in charge of the Provo, office, and represents the Navy Recruiting Service in this area. He can be contacted at the Post Office building, and will be glad to discuss or interview anyone interested in career opportunities with the Navy Blue.
