Show SOUTHERN UTAH NEWS Tage Four Hunters Cautioned On Firearms And Their Use Western Folks Are Fish and Game Department Issues Found To Be Information On Big Game Hunt Dates The following dates and other information covering special big game seasons have been released by the Utah Department of Fish and Game aS a reminder to hunters intending to apply for these hunting permits. Antelope Application d a' t e s 2. Public are July for drawing units to be held in State Capitol 10 a.m. August 8. Elk Application dates are August 7 - August 16. Public drawings in the State Capitol beginning at 9:00 am. August 26. Moose Same dates for applications and drawing of permits as for elk. Permit applicant must possess a 1958 big game license and the application must include the full name, address, big game license number, choice of hunting unit, and application fee covering the respective hunt applied for. The fees are: Antelope, $10; elk, $15; and moose, $25. Applications for elk permits will be acceptable only when submitted on the special elk application envelope forms supplied by the department and available at department offices or from license vendors throughout the state. They will be returned to the sender if submitted on any other form. The elk application fee of $15 must be in the form of a certified check, cashier's check, or money order. Personal checks or currency will not be accepted. It is unlawful for any person to apply for or possess an elk permit who was successful in obtaining an elk permit in 1954, '55, 56, or '57. Records show that many gun accidents are the direct result of using unchecked guns that have been gathering dust since the last hunt.
