The report takes in the complete County up to October 31, 1956, with a complete report on all children, school children and all adults. The report notes that there are 369 boys and 325 girls enrolled in the Kane schools for a totaLi)t 694 students... There is 1 boy and 3 girls in schools outside of the District. There are none in private schools. Two boys and 1 girl in schools outside the State, bringing the total to 701 boys and girls of school age in the entire District, who are enrolled in schools. Stastics Breakdown Stastics show that over the whole District that there are but eight children of school age- - 6 to 17- who are not in schools. One is a high school graduate; Two are mentally or physically handicapped; Four are married, and 1 from other causes. All eight are considered legally excused from school. This would bring the total for those ages, 6 to 17 to 709. The total number of children in the District as of October 31, 1957 was 409; Of these children 210 axe boys and 199 girls. This brings the total to 1118 children in the District up to and including 17 years. Eetween the ages of 18- and 64 the count shows 1141 persons. Over 65 years 154, giving the total in the County 2413 in all. Mr. McAllister said after receiving the DSA that he was grateful to the other members of the Club for their support during the past year, and during the previous year when he was membership chairman and a director. Activities listed for the club during the past year Include: The DSA banquet last Jan.; The Kanab Race Meet In May; Teen-ag- e Rodeo; Corner posts In Kanab City; Doll Safety Project in the elementary school; Contributed $25 to the Fire Department Inhilator fund. The Cfub ajso spearheaded the placing of shrubs on the grounds of the elementary school and the removal of the large trees from the grounds. More than $300 was put into the Chirstmas lighting program and they sponsored a Boy to Boys State Convention. For Airport Buildin a Plans for building an administrative building at the Kanab City Airport are out to prospective bidders, to be opened sometime after the 12th. The building to be 28 x 28 ft, will be constructed of cinder blocks, with a four inch concrete floor, 3 ply built up gravel roof and two rest rooms. Purpose of the building is to accommodate in comming and out going traffic using the airport. Heat will be furnished by an oil forced air furnace with overhead vents. A 1000 gal water tank will be Installed and water will have to be hauled from- the city to use for drinking and toilet purposes. Septic tank and leach lines will also be put In to meet state requirements. A 30 gal hot water tank (gas) is also In the specifications. Part of the money for the Installation will come from state participation. - Mrs. Madeline Gardner came from Orderville Sundaty Feb.3 to spend the day here in her home town to commemorate her 81st birthday. She attended Sunday school, scarament services and spent the afternoon visiting friends and releatives. Saturday evening at the boy Scout Coasting track was the time and scene of much merriment where the Primary Home maker girls entertained their dads at a sleigh riding party. After they were all weary from riding and climbing the hill they were served hot chili at the home of President Reva Anderson. Teachers at the party were Lois Tait and Annie Judd.
