Donald Dennis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Dennis, Kanab, became lost last Saturday evening when out in the Ledges country with his grandfather, Donald Swapp, and two young companions. Mr. Swapp had taken the 3 youngsters along to ride with him and help with the rounding up of his cattle in the area. He said that he had left Donald with the Jeep they went out in, while he and the other two boys went on horse back to move the cattle down the trail. After returning to the jee later, Donald was found to be missing and his trail led toward the towering White Ledges. Mr. Swapp Immediately came to Kanab and with the boys father, and Sheriff LaNard Johnson, organized more than 75 men for a search party. Large fires were started in the area and searchers spread out through the large and rugged country. Mr. Dennis, Mr. Swapp and Taylor Crosby left the searchers on higher ground and went up the canyon toward the Ledges in a Jeep and found the boy on his way coming toward Kanab at about 2:30 a. m. The youngster said that he had left the Jeep after a fire nearby Jiad started to spread and he became alarmed. He followed the cattle trail for some time before getting lost and then made his way down over the Ledges in the darkness before being found. The Ledges were said to be almost impossible to climb down, but the.ryoung3.tejt? seemed to have accomplished the impossible by keeping a calm head and not becoming frightened. He said the many fires around the area had frightened him. not realizing that they were out looking for him. i "S T iVr 1 ' 07. a. 1 . - ijt Kanab DPW Hear Candidate For Senate i - The Kanab Butlnesi'and Professional Women held their October meeting at the Crosby Cafe Monday night.
