They all ate their fill, which, surprisingly, was very little, and began a diligent search for one meilon that seems to have strayed. After hunting in several unfruitful places including an old dead log they found it in a car parked near by. When a mental count was taken a rumor spread that there was still another meilon on the loose ( believe that matter was later attended to by a few Alton boys. That beautiful suspension type flume that the Mt. Carmel Irrigation Company installed a couple of years ago, Is now nothing but a junf-bl-e of twisted steel pipe and cable. What happened? No one sterns to know. LaMond Hea-to- n went to check his irrigation water and found the flume draped across the creek channel, looking like a mutilated garden hose. I was unable to get across the creek, because they were washing sand, but a check on the side where the tower collapsed failed to reveal what had caused the failure. Earl and La-dr- u Sorenson, and Lynn Talt thought that the ditch below Someone the flume might have filled up and caused the pipe to fill with sand or water, and the extra weight caused the pipe to fill with sand or water, and the ?xtra weight caused the tower to collapse. This might have happened, but the tower was supposed to have been heavy enough to have supported a pipe full of water. It is the same with our other theories. We can figure out. an answer to everyone of them. Perhaps a little more investigation will reveal just what did happen. Malcolm Robinson Just completed reparing a dam that went oht below his house atSkutum-paa couple of years ago. He has it now, so thinks it will handle any flood that he has ever seen in that The spillway is over 20 feet wide, and has a five-fofreeboard. Not too long ago, I remember farmers arguing against a three-foo- t freeboard, now they put In this extra dirt on their own. I am sure it pays. Tuesday I went with Howard Spencer to look at some washes in which he plans to install some brush and rock dams. We checked some dams he installed a couple of years ago, and while they need repair, it is surprising how much soil a little pile of brush can hold back. h Roads d CALL DR. If we cant get field crews and equipment over this road in the future then we will have to find another way in." A resolution was presented to the Utah Commission later by a delegation representing the five counties in Southern and Southwestern Utah. The group pointed out to the Commissioners that the earliest development of the Kanab access road was important to the entire state and that the Commission should do all in its power to see that funds are appropriated for building this road. H. C. Vance, Chairman of the Utah Highway Commission was in charge of the Utah delegation while Grover Duff, of the Arizona Highway Commission headed the Arizona delegation.
