Show SOUTHERN UTAH NEWS News WEDNESDAY JUNE 6, 2001 Public health advisory Police Tip of plague activity Im Coconino County Department of Health Services (CCDHS) announced Saturday, May 26 that fleas collected from rodent burrows in the Baderville area northwest of Flagstaff have been confirmed positive for plague by the Northern Arizona Univer- sity Department of Biology, no human cases of plague have been reported in Coconino County since 1996, CCDHS is urging the public to take pre- cautions to reduce their risk of exposure to this serious disease, Although this is the only loca- tion in which surveillance activities have found plague this year, the disease may be more widespread. Similar confirmations were made in several locations during the fall of 2000. Plague is a disease of rodents and rabbits, and sometimes of predators that feed upon these animals. I M l r , me, but con- none-the-le- ss fused and overwhelmed. Some wrould say they have known that for years, they are used to it, and that I should not be concerned. Tm concerned. As an example of this condition let me state, for the record by the way, that I have no idea what this blurb is all about, but here goes anyway. ", Memorial weekend is almost two weeks in the past and Tm thinking some folks may have missed the boat so to speak. Now a lot of them took their boat with them, but the activities involved had little if anything to do with remembering those that fought and died to giveus the freedom seriously enjoyed over that weekend. Well enjoyed may not quite be it Based on the complaints and arrests made, suffered would be more appropriate. We, as individuals and as a society, , owe a bunch to the brave souls that fought for us and I for one am going to try and be a little more thankful. Pay more attention to history , seek out veterans and spend some time with them. Being confused and overwhelmed is one thing. Being forgetful and uncaringis another. I need to make some changes and become a better citizen. I owe it to them the brave ones. - . , The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime does not mean he is guilty.
