Show News SOUTHERN UTAH NEWS WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 17. 1&97 Firdlraa Towim Council Council members Brent Mackelprang, Greg Honey, Joy Jordan, Steven Winward and Robin Button met on December 10, 1997 for a regular council meeting. Guests were Mike Noel, Dan Spencer, Brent Barton, Mike Mellor, Bob Lathim, Dr. Schmutx, Jim Matson, Tom Corrigan, Kylar Ray, Lee Esplin and David Barton. Mike Noel gave information on applying for Lake Powell water. Phone service was discussed with Mike Noel and South Central representatives Dan Spencer and Brent Barton. Some special services have been reduced in Arizona to the same price as in Utah. The other rates will have to go before the Arizona Corporation Commission and this is an expensive and lengthily process. It will be about a year before South Central applies to the Arizona Corporation Commission for a hearing. Mike Mellor reported 13 cases which included theft of wood, dog in livestock, aggravated assault, theft of services, traffic accident, criminal trespass, crimicriminal damage-traile- r, nal damage, criminal trespass, DUI (Felony) car burglary. Also 29 moving violations. Two cases are at the county level. unit Bob Lathim asked about a cost of living raise. The creek crossing has been completed on both sides. Have had numerous water leaks in the past month. There have been two water hookups installed and the master valve is in at the cemetery. Mr. Lathim was asked to order pipe for the corrals. Lee Esplin presented the audit and broke out the different accounts and amounts involved. Home Rule hearing was called and no comments were forthcoming. Robin Button moved to accept in this subdivision and would need an agreement of some type showing which areas each unit covers. The roads look good, but some matters need to be clarified. Sands Corporation and Robin Button and Brent Mackelprang will meet on these roads in the near future. Jim Matson read the Kaibab letter of intent to use the Kaibab property for an industrialbusi-nes- s park and for Kaibab Industries and Town of Fredonia becoming partners in this project Joy Jordan has checked with the Dept ofCommerce and EDA on grants for this park. Robin Button moved to send a letter to Barry Hatch of Kaibab asking him to write up an agreement, seconded byJoy Jordan, with all 2 the minutes, seconded by Joy Jordan, with all in favor. The agenda was accepted with the following changes: eliminate items 4 and 5 and table item 10 in favor. until January on a motion by David Barton of TCI told seconded Steven about the partnerships to manby Greg Honey, Winward. Kylar Ray asked permission to paint the town office for an Eagle Service project. Steven Winward moved to approve $ 125 for paint and supplies for this project, seconded by Robin Button, with all in favor. Dr. Schmutz asked about acceptance of Unit 1 roads in the Ship Rock subdivision. Council was not aware of a unit 1 and age smaller systems. Our system will be managed by Peak Communications. Robin Button moved to adopt Resolution 9 transferring our system to Peak Cablevision, seconded by Greg Honey, with all in favor. There will not be an increase in franchise tax on cable TV. If a new channel is requested, such as Arizona TV or KB YU, a 30 day notification is required and 97-00- $499 unmet writing. Joy Jordan moved to accept Daves Lock bid of $630 for push paddles on the doors at the Medi- cal Ciinic, seconded by Steven Winward, with all in favor. The clerk will check on the warranty before the bid is let Joy Jordan moved to accept the audit, seconded by Greg Honey, with all in favor. Joy Jordan moved to increase the cost of a cemetery lot to $ 100 and to charge $ 100 for perpetual care which can be paid at $10 per year for 10 years, seconded by Steven Winward. Robin Button moved to purchase a tiller from Overson Machinery for $1965.33, seconded by Greg Honey, with all in favor. Water rates were discussed, tabled and will be taken back to the Utility Board. Brent Mackelprang signed BLM lease for Wood Hill Road. Holiday activities were discussed. Robin Button moved to have a Christmas lighting contest, seconded by Greg Honey, with all in favor. Landfill Testing was discussed. M30 -- Steven Winward moved to allow Lake Powell Institute to have a window installed in the Medical Clinic for a reception window at their cost, seconded by Robin Button, with all in favor. A letter for time extension on the EDA Grant will be written. Joy Jordan moved to go to an executive session at 1 1 p.m., seconded by Robin Button. Executive session adjourned at 11:45 p.m. Meeting adjourned at 12:01 a.m. on a motion by Robin Button, seconded by Steven Winward.
