Show SOUTHERN UTAH NEWS-Thurs- September 11, 1980 day, than past years, also more and fun booths. The puppet shows were a great attraction and have been booked for next year. Also greatly enjoyed were the continuous movies sponsored by the Forest Service. Some department entries were up from last year and some were down so it just about evened up. Although a complete listing of departments was not available, the best of show in some included: Jewelry, Oscar Judd, Coral Well, another fail has come and gone. It was great fun for some, a lot of hard work for some, but was enjoyed bv mans and a lot of money and ribbons were won. The Northern Coconino County fair got underway with the ribbon cutting ceremony on the evening of September 5, preceding the talent show. Doing the honors with the ribbon were Miss Fredonia" K'Lynn Heaton, assisted by Fair Chairman Charlie Glaspie standing in for Coconino County Supers isor Pete The Honorable Lawrence Wren, Judge of the State Appeals Court, standing in for Governor Bruce Babbitt, Coconino County Sheriff Joe Richards, Fredonia Town Council member Dixie Judd and Miss Fredonia attendants, Anna Stanfield and Pat Chell. Other VIPs in the audience from out of town included Coconino County Recorder Helen Hudgens and Bill Brechan, who is a candidate for the Board of Supervisors. The talent show was enjoyed by a standing room only audience. Everyone in the show came up a winntr with a trophy and money. The fair got underway early Saturday morning. After the judging the departments were opened to the public and the fun began. The drawing for the porcelain doll was held and the luck winner was Mr. Paul McCormick. The next item to be raffled is a cord of firewood. Money raised by the Ms. Fires will be used to purcase equipment needed by the Volunteer Fire Department. Special thanks go to the brave people who were dunked time after time in the thirty minutes they sat on the drop seat of the dunking booth. Those dunked included School Superintendent Woody Wilson, High School Principal Glen Nelson, Marshal Tom Leighty, Candidate for Coconino County Recorder Helen Hudgens, Fredonia Town Councilman Tony Judd, Fire Chief Robert Steuber, Fireman Pete Johnston, School Board Candidate Betty Sab-yaDistrict Forest Ranger Carl Taylor, Arizona Refining Manager Ron Sabyan and young men Mark Harris and Wayne Anderson. Assisting in the running of the booth were Carla Griffiths Anna Bradshaw and all the young ladies who retrieved the balls.
