W,' Mr. and Mrs. Jackson Crofts Crofts-Winte- speak vows August 14th PLANS LARRY HUGH AND RITA DAVIS MAKE WEDDING Larry Hugh will wed Rita Davis in September grooms parents from and Mrs. Dan Davis of Minersville announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Rita, to Mr. Larry Hugh, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Pugh of Kanab. The couple has set September 17 for their wedding in the St. George LDS Temple. They will be honored at a reception the same evening to be held in the Minersville Ward Cultural Hall. They will further be honored at an open house in Kanab September 18 at the home of the bride- Mr. 8 to 10 p.m. is a graduate of The bride-to-b- e Beaver High School in Beaver. Larry is a graduate of Kanab High School where he was active in all phases of the schools athletic program. He has been attending SUSC in Cedar City and this summer has been employed by California Pacific Utilities in Kanab. Dover-Johnso- vows n taken August Tea given to honor 14 in Cedar City new bride, Marline M. Beekman Janice Dover, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Dover of Cedar City and Owen Johnson from Fredonia were married Saturday, August 14 in Cedar City. Owen is the son of W. E. Johnson. He spent 18 months in the service with 14 of them in Vietnam. He is presently employed by Kaibab Industries. Janice graduated from high school in Cedar City. She also has a degree in cosmetology which was earned in Cedar City. Rea, Merilyn and Fransic McCormick gave an afternoon tea in honor of Martine McCormick Beekman who married Johnny Beekman in Las Vegas, Nev. July 31. The tea was held on the lawn of Francis McCormick, the brides mother, Pam McDonald and Patti Tait arranged the gifts. Taylor Lewis, Elaine Pratt and Antoinette Mackelprang helped in the kitchen. The serving girls were Cindy Mackelprang and Judd. Punch was served from a crystal punch bowl. Also served was spice cake with a pink rose on top and assorted nuts. The wedding cake was four tiered with columns supporting each tier. On top of the cake were three bells and pink rose buds. Martine wore an orchid mini afternoon dress trimmed with white lace. She also wore white slip on heels. A corsage of pink rose buds accented her dress. The Beekmans now live in The home of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Winters of Kanab was the setting for the August 14 summer wedding of their daughter, Jan Carolyn to Jackson A. Crofts, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Crofts, also from Kanab. The bride and groom stood in front of a daisy, lily of the valley and an ivy covered trellis. The bride was adorned in a lovely sheer, nylon, empire, French provincial gown, trimmed with satin ribbon and insertions of imported French lace. The bodice, puff sleeves, and bottom of the floor length gown were accentuated with white daisy motifs with centers of yellow hand-mad- e French knots. The marriage ceremony was performed by Elder Valton E. Jackson. The brides sister, Jill Charington, was matron of honor. The duty of best man was performed by Barry Glazier. Following the wedding ceremony an open house was given in their honor in the beautiful flower-decke- d of the garden grooms parents. Kanab news notes Rell and Pearl Little have their granddaughter, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Works, with them for three weeks. Larry lives in Seattle, Wash. Enjoy Lake Powell! Shower given De-an- rs SEE for newlywed August 10, Afton Jackson entertained at a bridal shower honoring Miss Jan Winters. Theme of the Treasured evening party was Memories. Treasure An Chest was the receptacle for the many lovely gifts brought by friends and relatives. GLEN CANYON NO. 94 The Dell Spencers of Las Vegas visited here for a week at the Grace Heaton home. Also visiting with Grace were Connie and Andrea Tait, children of the Lane Taits of St George. A recent visitor here was Ann T. Esplin of Monroe, who visited with Lasca Chamberlain. Word was received of the birth of a baby girl to Mr. and Mrs. Gary Lee Heaton. Gary is presently attending medical school. The John Jay Esplin family spent a weekend in Salt Lake City and vicinity recently. Greg Tait and Neil Adair made a trip to Salt Lake City to visit, and the Delbert Palmers spent a few days in Salt Lake visiting at the Duane Bolander home. Mr. and Mrs. Easton Blackburn and their daughter, Bonnie, visited here Wednesday, as did Oswald Covington. Mr. and Mrs. B. H. Sorensen and Doratha Barton went to Salt Lake City for a medical check-u- p for Mr. Sorensen. Kyle Barton is home from his stay in the hospital in St. George. He reports that his injuries are improving and he is feeling very lucky that they were not more serious. J. E. Crofts and Edward and Merrill Johnson of Kanab went to Canada with the Crofts boys to fish. While they are gone, Mrs. J. E. Crofts is visiting her daughter, Jeanette Pugh and family in Kaysville, and Mrs. DeMille and dughter are visiting her sister in Northern priesthood boys to Yellowstone. Utah. Mr. Fisher took some of the Accompanying him were Craig Barton and Kent and Brent Brink-erhof- f. Mr. and Mrs. Fisher recently went to Laramie, Wyo., to see their son Roger and family Mr. and Mrs. Art Tait and children of Elko, Nev., are visiting at the A. B. Levanger home. Visitors at the Elbern Sorensen home have been the Spencer Young family and the Kyran Sorensen family. The Charles Oman family has been visiting in Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Levanger took their son, Vem Cox to the mission home in Salt Lake City Saturday. Following his stay there he will go to the language training mission in Hawaii and then on to Korea to serve a two-yeLDS mission. Friday the 13th seemed determined to live up to its reputation as an unlucky day for at least one Orderville resident. B. O. Rust parked his car and went into the H. & R. Shopping Center. Some of the class members present were Mr. and Mrs. Spencer Young of Salt Lake City, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Esplin of Lo;an, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Brinkerhoff of Cedar City, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Angel (Elda Hafen) of Las Vegas and Mr. and Mrs. Allen Hunting-to- n of Kanab. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Young and son visited at the Orson Youngs and Mark Chamberlains. The Dean Lambs visited with the Merrill Lamb family. Lela Lamb is in the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Horace Burrows went to Salt Lake City to attend the graduation from University of Utah of their son, Cashe. Next month Cashe and his wife will move to Ohio, where he plans to work on his M.A. in speech therapy. Klissa Heaton visited here for h the weekend, and Denise the few at a spent days home of her parents, the Edmund Hepworths. The James Heaton family of Salt Lake City visited here at the Rex Crofts home. Visitors at the Bill Gentle home were their granddaughter, Kathy Edison from Placentia, Calif., their nephew and wife, Bill and Janice Gentle and daughters Julie and Kristy from Aaisa, Calif. A number of members of the Ira and Emily Adair family were here for the weekend to visit with their mother and have a family The Don Wagner family (Emily), the Johnny Nielsen family (Helen) the Cloyd Brinkerhoff family (Lena) and the Webster Adair family were present. Visitors at the B. P. Fisher home were Mrs. Garth Fisher and children, the Reed Fishers, Mrs. Lawrence Esplin, Lawrence, Tim and Heidi from Cedar City and a nephew from California. Saturday was a busy night for many pepole from here who attended the open house at the Dee Anderson home in Mt. Carmel for Beverly and Michael Peterson, and the open house in Glendale for Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Brink-hof- f. Hep-wort- Bro. and Sister Taylor Crosby from Kanab were speakers in Sacrament meeting. The Bill Cox family visited here for a short time. Bishop and Mrs. Donald Atkinson and children have been on a trip to Texas. The Leon Cox family has moved back here and will live in the Larry Esplin home. Many townspeople attended the funeral services for Ross Heaton in Alton Monday. While on their trip they visited Chyrel and Dick Barnes in Reno, Bain and Jessolyn Swapp in St. George, Ken and Venita (Young) Boran in Cedar City and many other friends in this area. Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Adams and family are moving back to Cedar City for Ron to go to school He is associated with American Airlines out of Washington, D.C. Mrs. Merlyn Jensen and son, Kenny are visiting her mother, Mrs. Norma French. They are going to fly to Kentucky to work on Charlie Frenchs genealogy. They plan to be gone a week or 10 days.
