They came here to film only one or two episodes of the CBS TV series, but ended up doing four or five. Their pilot crew left here and went other places, but soon returned and said This Is The Place. Their filming as much as they did here, in preference to other places, attests to the fine services they receive here, and the know how of local workers. Hangover: Something to occupy a head that wasnt used the night before. The local airport manager, Phil Pfeiler has had a few busy days also with the advent of He was kept quite busy shuttling personnel between here and Las Vegas. Speaking of the airport, Phil reports that the airport now has a new Runway Light Controller. This piece of equipment makes it possible for a pilot in an airplane overhead to turn on the lights at the airport to facilitate a night landing. According to Phil, the lights can be turned on from the plane by radio impulses and then they will go off automatically 15 minutes later, giving the plane time to land. The equipment was purchased half by Kanab City, half by the State and cost $575, and is an important addition to Kanabs air port. The city, the state, and Mr. Pfeiler should be complimented on the fine airport facility which is available here. Your Presence or some other way Friday. So they did, but the nick up and delivery service got it to the bus terminal 40 minutes after the bus had left (I found this out after I stayed up till 2 a.m. to meet the bus, and after another phone call). Well, the goodies finally arrived Saturday morning and we were able to finish the job. Thats only the second time we have published that late in over five years, the other time being the week we installed an press. We apologize to anyone who may have been invconvenienced by the delay, and certainly hope it does not happen again. We invite our readers to take advantage of the next few weeks at $4 or two years for $8 before the price goes up. Note to umpires and wives: Never call a man safe when hes out. Anyway, we hope we dont lose any readers with this step. We hope you feel the SUNews is worth $5 per year. -- -- Frank and Helen Banks at the 'OLD BARN PLAYHOUSE' f Mt. Carmel The entire family of Mr. and Mrs. Merwin StevPus have been and are visiting them this spring. In early May Merwin and Virginia flew to Portland, Ore., where their daughter Norma Bohn lives, who then after a weeks visit brought them home. Norma and children stayed here and visited her folks between 3 and 4 weeks during which time her two sisters who live in Salt Lake City came and spent a few days. The girls have returned to their homes and at present their sons, Allen of Davis, Calif., and Thad of Fillmore, with their wives and children are visiting their parents and touring some of the scenic wonders of our beautiful state. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Stevens, a former resident of Mt. Carmel were visitors at the Edward Lamb home one day last week. Mardon Lamb of Chatsworth, Calif., came last weekend to visit his father who is ill in the hospital in Kanab and I am sure would enjoy having you visit him. Garland Tait, with his friend, Robert Stauer are visitors at the home of his parents, the Leo Beckwiths. They are from Minnesota. Speaking of that green pocket-boo- k lining material that everyone likes . . . there just isnt enough of it right? The SUNews is just like the rest of you inflation is taking its we need more of the green toll stuff to stay out of the red. Therefore, again our desires, we feel that we must raise something, and have decided on the subscription rates. In the past five years that we have had the SUNews, we havent raised prices on anything (except printing which is priced from a commercial catalog, that is updated periodically). However, with the continuing upward spiral of inflation (in the last five years, cost of newsprint has gone up several times add to that the recent hike in postal Mr. and Mrs. Dee Anderson were in Page Monday on business and to visit their daughters, Rosalie and family and Beverly. Three cheers for Scott Betenson and his boss. Scott played a movie at the local theater recently, and after going through it once he refused to screen it the second night. He called his boss and said, If you want it run, come and run it, to which his boss said, If its that bad forget it. Scott said he couldnt understand how come it had an R rating, when in his opinion it should have been rated XX. As far as he could see it had no redeeming parts at all, and many people walked out. It must have been especially bad, for he said even those who go there to sleep walked out! The music about drove him up the wall, the story was and the language was worse than what some people used say Navy language was. Again three cheers for Scott! The only way for people to do away with this type trash is to hit the movie makers in the pocket book . . . thats the language we all understand.
