Mr. and Mrs. Sherwin Heaton (Nana) and children from Reno Nev., and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Palmer (Lois) and children from Tucson, Ariz., visited with the Blaus. The Palmers also visited with his father, Ray Palmer. Mr. and Mrs. Vern Roundy and boys visited at the Horace Roundy home from their home in Boise, Idaho. Mr. and Mrs. Brent White from Hunter visited at the Horace Roundys. She is the former Judith Roundy. HOME, Idaho Sergeant Heber C. Williams, son of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Williams, Kanab, receives the U. Kanab News Notes The Rell Little family from Kanab enjoyed being together in Salt Lake City over the weekend, and visiting with another son and brother, Willis and family and to see their new baby daughter, and also to be present when she received a name and blessing in church. The Vard Heaton family spent on the desert herding cattle and hauling them in. Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Heaton have moved here for the summer at the Gail Heatons. They had their baby son blessed in sacrament meeting. Mr. and Mrs. Dilworth Hoyt jeceived word of a new grandson born to Mr. and Mrs Bill Gingrich of Pittsburgh, Pa. She is the former Ardith Hoyt. The new boy has three sisters and one brother. Phillip Robertson of Enterprise spent two days with his father, Roy. Mr. and Mrs. Dave Pickard from Cedar City spent the weekend at the Loyd Heatons. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Cox received word of a new grandson, bom Sunday to Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Johnson of Layton. The baby has one brother and one sister. Mrs. Johnson is the former Joyce Cox. Mrs. Joy Ballard and Mrs. Eva Evans from Hurricane visited in Alton last week. Mrs. Ballard at her aunts, Mrs. Laura Campbell, and Mrs. Evans at her mothers, Mrs. Marie Crosby. Mark Palmer from Salt Lake City is here with his grandmather, Mrs. Ella Palmer. He is the son of Jonathan and Joyce Palmer. contemplates future progecfs e. Jane Little is a top LDS student at So. Utah State Jane Little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenyon Little of Kanab, has been honored with the Needs Meeter Award of the LDS Student Association on the Southern Utah State College campus at Cedar City. The award was presented Saint Stuthrough the Latter-da- y dent Association Council, comprised of eighteen students repress- ting every facet of the Church community on campus. The Needs Meeter Award is the highest honor given an SUSC LatterSaint student. -day The Kanab High School Booster Club is considering several ways in which they may help the high school activities. One way is through the purchase of football equipment for the Junior Varsity team, which the club has previously agreed to help with. Another is assisting the cheerleaders to attend a cheerleaders school at Utah State University. The club has added much to the spirit of the scnooi and has helped in a number of ways in the past with finances, and undoubtedly these present needs will receive help from the club. The club also wants help from members and prospective members on future money making projects. In the clubs last Boosters Bugle, their newspaper, an editorial asked: Who is They? We have been hearing the strange comment that They should do something, the article says. Who is They? Then the article goes on to point out that Isnt it true that it isnt they who should be doing things, but really WE who should get with the program. Its easy to say they should do it this way or that, but the real test comes when WE are all there to help. Following is a list of the membership of the Boosters Club: Boyd Glover, James A. Being one of SUSCs most active students. Junes duality achievements aie many. She was presi-- . dent of the Thunder Club (spirit organization). She established the Indian Tutoring Project through VISTA, working effectively with the Circle K organization. Jane is a member of the Circle an auxiliary to the Circle K organization who recently received the Presidents Trophy for outstanding contribution to campus and community. Performing in the Readers Theater and the college dance review, Jane has also been very active in the fine arts. She was chairman of the Fourth Ward Fellowship committee of which there have been four baptisms this year. Jane also served on the Asociated Women Students Council and the SUSC Presidents Council. Traveling throuhout Utah and southern Nevada, the LDS Student Association Programs Bureau, which Jane is in charge of, has reached an audience of over 3,500 people. The LDS Student Association Programs has been said to be one of the most effective recruitment tools for Southern Utah State College. Recently elected as Junior Womens Senator, Jane is serving with the ASSUSC Senate. Her future plans include completing a degree in speech therapy at Utah State University. K-t- s, PIPE NEAR Utilities Co. The Cleve Esplin family vacationed a few days last week down on the Arizona Strip where Cleve was working with their cattle. Mr. and Mrs. Arch Hoopes came Sunday to visit the Leo Beckwiths Mrs. Hoopes and Mrs. Beckwith are sisters. They celebrated the Hoopes 57th wedding anniversary with a nice dinner at lovely Parry Lodge and spent Monday on Paug-uitc- h Lake catching fish. The Beckwiths were in St. George at the temple Friday and Saturday of last week. Winter travel in Utah shows gain in 1970 Utah recorded a 15,900 increase motor vehicle parties visiting the state during winter (December, January and February) of 1970-7- 1 over the previous winter. in Mr. and Mrs. Dee Anderson motored to Page Sunday to visit their dauhgter, Rosalie and family and to take their daughter Beverly who will have work in Page this summer. According to a report released today to the Utah Travel Council from Utah State Universitys Institute for the Study of Outdoor Recreation and Tourism nearly motor one million vehicle travelers visited Utah this recent winter quarter spending $22,853,000. During the same period for 1969-7979,000 visitors spent $19,328,100. Party expenditures were up $7.07 per visit and individual expenditures increased by $3.47. Visiting Mrs. Susie Reese Saturday was her daughter Beth Anderson and husband Vern of Glendale who were accompanied by their sons Wayne and Mante and wives who reside in Las Vegas. nt 0, Mrs. Lavenia Tait and daughter Maxine are visiting for awhile at the home of her son Ellis and family in Vernal. Ellis and wife came for Memorial Day and took his mother and sister back with them. Mr. and Mrs. O. P. (Lucky) Lookinland of San Pedro, Calif, (the former Madeline Tait) and daughter Mary Lou and husband, the Cecil Sossormans visited Val C. Tait, Mrs. Lookinlands brother Thursday and with her sister Mrs. Mahala Sorensen and husband Dave and son Ivan that evening. They were enroute on vacation to Texas. Salt Lake County recorded the greatest county expenditures increase, up 55.9 percent or $5,120,-90over the quarter while Weber County showed the largest 0 1969-7- 0 decrease, 7.8 percent, down from the previous winter. The report indicates 22 percent of the total winter visitors traveled to Park City Resort making it the states most frequently visited winter attracion. Eighteen and one half percent of the Utah visitors traveled to Alta, 14.8 to attractions in Salt Lake City and 11.1 percent to Park City West. During the recent winter quarter 34.5 percent of Utahs visitors came from Idaho, 13.7 from California and 12.7 from Colorado. Lee Jorgensen, director of the Utah Travel Council, said Our efforts to bring travelers to Utah are successful. However the USD report once again shows our main problem to be that of keeping the visitor longer. Travelers to Utah still average just slightly more than one night in our state. Utahns can help increase the number of nights visitors spend in Utah, Jorgensen continued, by becoming more knowledgeable of the states scenic attractions while showing visitors a courteous and friendly attitude. 00 Kanab news notes Mr. and Mrs. George Holland traveled to Salt Lake last week end for the graduation ceremonies of their son Roger Saturday from University of Utah. Upon their return to Kanab they traveled on to Flagstaff where they picked up their grandchildren, the children of their son Robert, to spend a few days in Kanab. Robert also just graduated Wednedsay of last week from Mesa Junior College. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Davis and girls of Brigham City; Mrs. Elaine Riggins and baby, and Mrs. Marilyn Lawson and baby were visitors here last veek at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Norris Brown. Their daughter, Charlotte Greenhalgh had open heart surgery and is getting along fine. The Youngs returned home Sunday. Charlotte was operated or in the Loma Linda University Hospital.
