The soil at the reservoir site is a sandy loam which will not hold water. To make the reservoir hold water a 12 foot thick wall or core of shale is being placed through the center of the dam. The core trench had to be dug a maximum of 40 feet deep to reach bed rock. A trench this deep meant moving a large amount of earth. The shale used to fill the core is being hauled three miles. The shale has to be processed. Water is worked into the soil and compacted by a sheep foot roller. The reservoir will be used to store irrigation water to irrigate about 300 acres of hay and pasture. This reservoir is being built according to State Highway specifications. The Agriculture Cone servation Program will on the completed dam and Soil Conservation Service technicians are supervising construction. $1525 large print Alton. great-grandso- For the very best Father's Day gifts look at these Deseret Book Co.
