Mr. and Mrs. Bemell Crofts and son went to Salt Lake City over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Riddle of Gran'sville came to get their daughter and son who had been visiting here. Mrs. Earl Ramsay and family went to Idaho to visit with her grandmother. Visitors at the Perry Lamb home have been; Mr. and Mrs. McKay Heaton and children of Kanab; Mrs. May Heaton of Moccasin, Ariz.; Mr. and Mrs. Joel White and family of Hurricane; and Amanda Palmer of Tempe, Ariz. Vistors at the Ira Adair home and with other family members are: The Don Wagners of Arizona, the Hogan Adairs of Washington state. Visiting at the LaNard Johnson home Saturday evening were Galen Allred of Cedar City, and Barbara Giles of Provo. Reed Fisher and fiancee were home over the weekend from their studies at BYU. Home missionaries in sacrament meeting were Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Pugh with Kathy Judd, Tamara Meeks and Sara Hamblin rendering a musical number. We have received quite a bit of moisture the past week which has really made things look greener, still hot though. Mr. and Mrs. David Chamber-lai- n and family of Bountiful visited with Nellie Heaton. Visitors at the H. Frosts were her parents from Arizona and Mr. and Mrs. Dale Johnson from Fredonia, Ariz. Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Leaney of Hurricane have spent time here visiting with the Verdell Lambs and visiting Mrs. Edward T. Lamb who is still confined to the hospital. Visitors at the Roland Chamber-lai- n home were Mr. and Mrs. Neil Leavitt and family. The Country Cousins from Yuma, Ariz., presented a dance program here Wednesday night. Mr. and Mrs. Perry Lamb went to Cedar Thursday to meet their daughter, Linda Fairchild, She is coming from Indiana to California. She will visit here a while before going to California. David remained in Indiana where he is employed. Visitors at the LeGrande C. Heatons have been Dr. Fred Heaton and family of Albuquerque, N. M., and Mr. and Mrs. Jay Heaton and family of Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. LeGrande C- - Hea. ton and daughter Susy went to see Mr. and Mrs. Chad Heaton and son who are in the service. Doug Sorensen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elbern Sorensen, underwent surgery on his ear in Salt Lake City. Merrill and Gary Clark have spent some time here repairing the motel and cafe from their home in Spanish Fork. Nancy Lamb daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sharon Lamb went to California for dental work and to visit with relatives there. Mr. and Mrs. Gam Esplin and Mr. and Mrs. Lane Tait went to Salt Lake City where Mrs. Esplin and Mrs. Tait will attend a reunion of their class at Nurses School. Kez and Max Meeks spent the Kanab news notes weekend here with their family from their employment in Henderson, Nev. Mr. and Mrs. Pari Galloway of Vernal visited with the J. E. Crofts. Angie Reese, aughter of Bp. and Mrs. John A. Reese, Kim Haws, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Haws with other girls from the Mark Goldy and family are visiting his mother, Mrs. Lorraine Goldy. Mark is returning from Viet Nam and is going to Rhode Island to school for 10 months. Mrs. Theresa Owen was in Salt Lake City this week attending a floraculture school. Field work has begun upon two contracts awarded last month. James R. Henrie was 'warded the contract for chaining 66,320 acres of juniper; plowing 1,800 acres of sagebrush; and seeding 1,800 acres of rangeland located in Kane County for the purpose of improving watersheds. This project will aid in reducing erosion, and increase the yield of cleaner water. It will also provide more forage for wildlife and range cattle and general rehabilitation of heavily used areas. Leland Griffin and Marley Hamblin won the contract for a complex system of spreader dikes and dams in Butler Valley near Grosv-enor- s Arch in Kane County. The contract entails the movement of approximately 69,390 cubic yards of material. These dikes and dams will aid in eliminating erosion and give vegetation a chance to become established. The system will provide water for range cattle and wildlife as well as yield cleaner wafer downstream. Along with the resource contracts. a contract for the face lifting of the BLM yards was awarded to Cloyd Chamberlain, Kanab. This project involves the moving of two storage buildings within the yards to a more convenient location for increased utility and looks in order to compliment the new office building now under construction. News notes from Kanab Mrs. Helen Rowen, a former chef at Parry Lodge is visiting acquaintances in Kanab. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Fairboume and family, former residents of Kanab, were here last weekend visiting friends. Mr. and Mrs. Steve Hulet were in Kanab for a couple of weeks While here they had their baby blessed. Mrs. Joan Bennett and daughter and her friend visited a week with the Cal Bakers. They live in California. Dr. and Mrs. Richard Riley and family stopped over night in Kanab. They are moving to San Diego, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Gerin Long and family left this morning for Oregon to pick up their son who has been there visiting with his grandparents. Mrs. Stewart Carlson and boys will accompany them and visit her folks in Oregon. Mr. and Mrs. Bud DeBoer and family returned home from a three week trip to Iowa and Minnesota visiting with family and friends including Mr. DeBoers parents in Milaca, Minn. Emma was matron of honor and Shirley a bride's maid. They picked up Robert and Day-Lea- n at Cedar City and they also attended. The Delmont McAllisters left Tuesday for Las Vegas to pick up their son Mack who has been serving a mission in England for the past two years. ZoRae Church took her brothers, Scott, Dan, and Parvin to Salt Lake City Sunday, August 10 to visit with their mother. Her father, Van, brought the boys back and ZoRae will stay with her mother for a week. Kay and Susan Button spent some time in California recently. They reported having an excellent time. Laura Hale and Mary Page left Thursday morning to spend some time at Swansons Mt. View in Montana. Mary and her husband used to go there nearly every summer, so she has very fond memories of the famous resort.
