The sale of electrical energy produced by generators at Flaming Gorge and Glen Canyon Dams ius amounted to more than in less than four years, Sen. Frank E. Moss, said this week. WASHINGTON Sen. Moss noted that while there is surplus power available at this time, by 1971, Colorado River Storage Project (CRSP) electrical energy output will not meet the expected demand by power users. Sen. Moss said that the Bur eou of Reclamation estimates that by 1970, the CRSP will produce 1,023,000 kilowatts of electrical power, with firm contracts calling for the purchase of 953, 000 kilowatts. By 197 L, however, the customers will demand more power than the proSen. Moss ject is producing, said. The project will produce about 764,000 kilowatts of power ihis summer, with expected delivery of about 603,000 kilowatts, Sen. Moss said. The leftover power will be offered as surplus )ower, which will be available for sale on a slightly reduced rate basis. The revenue from this power will go onto the books to help the CRSP pay off the projects of the Lower Colorado River Basin as well as for revenue losses incurred by the filling of Lake Powell. That is the basis on which these predictions are made. The Bureau ol Reclamation estimates are based on adverse years' data and not on the maximum amount of water which could flow into the main storage reservoirs. The Bureau has based its estimates on somewhat less than average water supply in the Upper Basin. With less water, less of a power head can be maintained, and then the generators wont be able to produce as much electricity as expected, Sen. Moss said. On the other hand, if the Colorado River Basin experiences exceptionally good runoff during the next few years, more water can be stored behind the dams and then released through the power plants, making a .'designed to lead Mrs. Tessie McNeil of Snowflake has been visiting with her Neva daughter and and Harold Pratt.
