Brown, Editor Southern Utah News Kanab, Utah It has been interesting to read of the different polls being conducted over the State, relative to the voter's preferences In the forthcoming election? But I must say, as a former resident of Southern Utah, I am deeply disappointed over the results in certain Southern Counties In the choice of Rep. Lawrence Burton over his opponent, Wm. G. Bruhn. I am at a loss to understand why the voters in those counties would tqm down a chance to vote for a capable candidate who was born and raised in a southern county, Garfield County. Mr. Bruhn Is aware of the q problems that face those districts, as he has been in business in that area and has faced the slow down that comes at the end of summer. He knows how imperatve it is for new industries to be brought into that area, along with good roads and other tourist inducements. Mr. Bruhn worked tirelessly for two years on the Committee for Canyonlands. He did this because he realized what a boon the establishment of a Canvonlands National Park would mean to this area. A man with his foresiqht. if elected to Congress would do much to heln Southern Utah, ihduding furthering irrigation and reclamation. One of the most freauent complaints about Utah State government, and Congressional Representatives from Utah, is that none of these men realize that Utah extends south beyond Paysoh. In view of this criticism, it seems to me that people In those counties that gave Mr. Burton a majority would change their vote and elect a man who knows that incudes southern counties, that man being Mr. Wm. G. Bruhn. Mrs. Pauline D. Johnson 6. The Lowdermilk bid, the' low- est of eight bids presented, was 1 $1,915,432.20.
