Enjoyablo Reunion b The Southern California Picnic, June 7th at Ladera Park in Los Angeles, attracted former resnearly idents. This was the largest crowd to date, and much credit is due the Southern Utah News for its excellent and timely publicity. The News reaches many families who have moved away from Kanab, and others were notified through the News, by friends or family still residing ' Ka-na- one-hundr- ed in Kanab. Edith Ann Sannella First Birthday . . . Celerbating her first birthday Friday, June 19th, is Miss Edith Ann Sannella, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Joseph J. Sannella of Kanab. Eagerly awaiting the celebration are her three older brothers, Louis Elton, age 5 years, Joseph John, Jr. age 4 years, and Andrew Dean age 3 years. Kanab Toacbor Attends Workshop 359 of one South Main, Kanab, 25 Utah and Idaho high school and junior high school teachers selected to participate in a University of Utah summer workshop in journalism. The workshop, which begins Mrs. Elna P. Morrill, is Monday, June 15 and contin- ues through June 20, will be an intensive course aimed at serving the needs of secondary school- - journlaism - teachers - and publications advisers as well as prospective teachers' and advisers. .The Newspaper Fund, Inc., which provided a $1,000 the grant, is workshop with the Universitys Department of Journalism. Mrs. Morrill teaches home economics, art and journalism at Kanab High School and serves as adviser for the schools annual and newspaper. Johnson Glendale & Orderville wards held their Girls Camp at Red Canyon Tuesday and Wednes day their were 28 in attendance, they had a good time even if the weather was a little on the chilly side. Verda Johnson and Keola Hepworth returned home Mon day morning from Girl State held in Logan, Utah, they report a very worthwhile and enjoyable time. Doran Lamb returned home Friday night after spending a week in Logan attending chool. Mr. and Mrs. Vance S. Esplin are the proud parents of a daughter bom Friday, this is their first child. Congratulations. Mrs. Berniece Hoyt and child- Speakers in Sacrament meeting were ' Dennis Jones, Elders Jim Young and Jim Glover of Kanab. They gave some very good talks. The Orderville Ward MIA are having record hops every Friday night until after the 24ih. Everyone is invited to come out and have some fun. Mr. and Mrs. D. V. Seagraves of California visited at the Merrill Lamb Home Satuiday through Monday they came to bring Flora Lamb home who had been visiting them tor iwc weeks. The Kane County Fair Board met Monday night in a regular board meeting. Many new interests are being added to the fair this year so keep your eyes open for these. Gerald Spencer and Bill Heaton are managers of the fair this year. We feel we will have a very successful fair. Randall Crofts went to Salt Lake City over the weekend for a medical checkup. ' Hans Chamberlain attended a Fair Board Meeting held in Salt Lake City on Friday. LaNard Johnson a delegate to the Republican convention attended the convention held in Salt Lake City over the week end. Doug Crofts son of Mr. and Mrs. Leo H. Crofts of Panguitch visited at the Clyde Tait home several days the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Crofts came over Sa urday and took him home. Visiting at the Bessie Brooks-bhome and with other friends and relatives are Dr. and Mrs. Wendell Brooksby and ch Idren they are in the process of moving back to Cedar City, Utah Mr. and Mrs. John Burr and girls are at the Hugh Chamberlain home, Ramona Chamberlain came home with them, they an; moving to Salt Lake City, Utah from the East. Visitors at the Perry Lamb home Sunday afternoon were Mr. and Mrs. Darol Heaton and children, Mrs. Mae Heaton of Moccasin, Arizona and Mr. and M rs Seth Miller of England fair. Nan E. Heaton, son of Mrs. Grace Heaton of Orderville, graduated from the College of Pharmacy at the University of Utah June 8, 1964. He won the Merk Award for undergraduate research in pharmacology. He will finsh his intership in Cedar Cnty at the Cedar City Drug Co. Shoulders that carry responsibility dont have room for chips. - . Alma B. Judd, son of Post master and Mrs. Warren Dart. Judd of Fredonia, will receive his Doctor of Dental Medicine Degree during commencement of the University of Oregon Dental School at Portland on June 18. He was graduated from .Fredonia high school and attended Arizona State University before entering the dental school. Following graduation, he,wi'l enter the Public Health Service and be stationed with the Blackoot Indian Service Unit at Browning, Montana. The hard working bunch of Kanab Jay Cee members are winding up much of their work today, Thursday for their annual Wild West Days Rodeo, Friday and Saturday, at 7 p.m. each evening. The Jay Cees have fine shows lined up for both evenings at the Kanab Rodeo grounds here, and are expecting capacity crowds for both nights shows which will be packed full of thrills and fast action. The rodeo is approved by the Arizona Rodeo Association and is open to all contestants. Stock is being supplied by Lloyd Hawkins of Tucson, Arizona. Among events that those attending the big two night show will te: Bare Back Riding, Calf Roping, Saddle Bronc Riding, Team Tying, Biahama Bull Riding and Bull Digging. BarThere will be rel! ' Racing and Junior Barrel1 Racing open to all youngsters. All work and improvement has been completed at the Rodeo Grounds and fans this year will see one of the finest rodeo arenr and grounds in this area, all of which will add to the entertainment of the two big nights. All-Gir- ls Kanab Lions and Wives at Convention Utah State Lions convention was held in Provo, Utah June 11th to 13th. Delegates attending from Kanab were Lion Julian and Sally Cowley, Lion George and Jesse Diamond, Lion Uke and Hortensd Gardner. Dr. Walter H. Campbell was the guest speaker at the Banquet held Saturday He was presented a beau-tinight. Lion emblem comforter. This was from the Kanab club made by Lioness Sally Cowley. The Kanab Lions Club received a D. A. Skeen award for their contribution to the swimming pool. Hortense Gardner was one of ten lucky winners from 800 attending thebanquetto receive a lovely floral spray.
