Morrill (vice presidents), the Kanab Jay Cees are completing a staggering amount of civic work. Probably the JayCees Wild West Days Rodeo and Parade" (June 19th and 20th, this year) is one of the best known activities. However, last Christmas season passers-by- e might have noticed young men hard at work to assure that the holiday decorations were up and presented right. The familiar faces of Mark Brown, Gieorge Kirby, Harmon (Boone) Robertson and Roy Mackelprang may have gone unnoticed as they took in this Jay Cees City cooperative program. Santa Clause, who delighted the children of Kanab and surrounding areas, was a voluntary Jay Cees Activity. Kanabs cen- tral Christmas Tree came from the annual Jay Cees fund raising cut, during which the members waded the snowy slopes of the Kaibab Plateau. Throughout the seasons, residents of Kanab and surrounding communities have heard the anJayCees mobile nouncing events of civic and public interest. Jay Cee Vaughn Anderson helped make this possible. But through their activities the club offers a young man an opportunity to express himself In a way which his community and himself are improved. The Jay Cettes must be mentioned also; for they are the very patient and understanding wives of the married Jay Cees, who have a complete story In their own right this article has dealth Though primarily with the local Kanab Jay Cees, there are Jay Cee organizations throughout, the world doing unmeasureable service to their communities. The Jay Cees are proud to say that member, Dave Frost, is now president of the Pony League. Thankless and tough jobs of collecting for national organizations namely: the Red Cross and others, are taken in the clubs stride. The main objective of the Jay Cees isnt talk along, it is action. Recehtly in cooperation with the city and the Lions Club, the Jay Cees completed the cement decking oh the City Pool. Supporting Public Safety Programs, the Jey Cees headed up by Byron Baughman engaged in a safety belt installation project. With this, the bulk of the clubs efforts have gone toward building for the Kanab area one of the most popular early season rodeos. Again in cooperation with the city, the race committee and other service organizations, the Jay Cees have under the able assistance of Buck Crofts lald action plans for the reconstruction and redesigning of the rodeo arena grounds. Few will see these improvements before the Race Meet (May 22 and 23).
