Shrum graduat- ed from basic training at Fort Ord, Calif., March 19 as an outstanding trainee, according to information released by the U. S. Army this week. Pvt. Shrum is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Shrum of Kanab. He entered the service August 23, 1963 and is training as a helicopter mechanic. Holiday who were married in Fredonia Ward Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Friday, March 27, with Bishop Woodrow H. Johnson, officiating. The bride, the formed Miss Crystal Swapp, was given away by her father Cliff Swapp, Fre-donia. Attendants to the bride included Mrs. James F. Heaton, Kanab, as matron of honor and Misses Jamie Lynn Finley and Sandra Mackelprang as bridesmaids. Flower girls were Connie Perkins, neice of the groom, Salt Lake City, Denise Bryner cousin of the bride, and Meri Layne Heaton. The groom, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. T. Holliday, Flagstaff, was attended by his brother in law, Steve Perkins, Salt Lake City, as best man, and Mavin Swapp, brother of the bride, and Erwin Wright, Kanab, were ushers. The bride is a 1963 graduate of Fredonia High School and is presently attending ? Arizona State College, at Flagstaff. She has also attended LDS Business College, Sait Lake City. The groom is a graduate of Dolores High School, Dolores, Colo- rado, and served three years in the United States Air Force. He is employed at Flagstaff with his, father and brothers, R. T. The seventh grade assembly will be presented Friday afternoon. All the parents are invited and encouraged to attend. The Dixie Invitational Trdck Meet will be held in St. George this Saturday. Boys from Kanab who will be attending include; Robert Hamblin, .Charles Robinson, Bruce Bunting, Larry Riggs, Richard Judd, Lane Litle, Scott Johnson, George Pugh, Pat Lewis and Buzz Brown. Also Gene Drake, Milton Ketchum, Jerry , Miss Carolyn Alice Lewis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Evan J. (Dick) Lewis, Fredonia, became the bride of James Franklin Heaton in simple rites at Fredonia Ward, March 20, with Bishop Woodrow Johnson performing the double ring ceremony at 630 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. Scott Haycock, Tony Jim- my Hollingsworth. Dont forget the Junior Prom to be held April 18. The Juniors predict it will be the best yet. Everyone should plan to attend. Franklin Morse Heaton are the parents of the groom.
