Plans were made for our float for the Parade and Committees were set up for the concessions stand at the Rodeo. Our Friday night meeting was at Mark and Gail Browns. Brown Funeral services held Thursday, June 22 for Mrs. Annie Elizabeth Brown who passed away June 17 in California were held in the Kanab Stake House at 2 p.m. Opening remarks were made by Bishop Isaiah Meeks, followed by the Singing Mothers singing Beautiful Zion. Miss Carolyn Johnson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Johnson was 1st attendant and Miss Kay Judd, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Judd was 2nd attendant. Miss Bonham will represent the Jaycees at the Dixie Roundup this fall, Tive rodeo events got underway at 2 p.m. with approximately 550 persons on hand to see Eller Fowler, Garth Bundy and Bob Bowler take the money in that order for bull riding. The Kanab Jaycees said that they would like to thapk the many local people who helped in the arena and the chutes, which helped to make it a success. The final event of the day was a dance on the High School parking lot with a good crowd on hand and Ed Contrem winning the $100 bond; Larry MacDonald the S50 bond and Neil R. Austin the $25 bond. , The Jaycees and Jaycettes said that they would like to thank everyone for turning out and making this day the big success that it was. and a speciaj thanks to Dick Harris and his fruit stand on the Glen Canyon highway for the melons and free ice. - Baker Johnson Will Recite LDS Temple Vows Miss Christine Baker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James A. Baker of Fredonia, and Mr. David Owen Johnson, son of Mr. and MrsrOwen H. Johnson of Moccasin, will recite wedding promises in the St. George LDS Temple Saturday, July 1. The couple will be honored at a reception that same evening in the Fredonia Ward Hall in from 8:30 until 10:30. The bride is a graduate of FreFre-don- ia donia High School class of 61 where she was active in music and cheerleading as well as of the school year book and in church activities. The groom is a graduate of Fredonia High School and has attended Dixie College at St. George. He took active part in school functions at both schools and served as student body president while at Fredonia. Many Have Worked Approximately 150 persons have been on location here from Hollywood. Many local extras, horsemen, drivers, special deputies, operators and laborers have been kept busy, during the 6 weeks of filming. The economy of Kanab and the surrounding area has been given a big boost with an estimated million dollars being SDent locallv during the past several months of construction of the new movie street on the Paria River, at the old street in Johnson Canvon and at the Fort location southwest of Kanab. During the past. week some 180 horses have ben in use, as well as all available teams for many miles around. Large numbers of Navajo Indians have been used from time to time. Two helicont-er- s have been in use most of the time as well as several planes. -- KKIS Glass cf 41 Has Big Turn Out at First Reunion The reunion of the class of 41 Kanab High School, held June 23 was considered a big success by the many members who were on hand to attend and renew acquaintance and friendship. Highlight of the evening was the reading of letters from class members who were unable to attend, and a long distance telephone call from Clois Ford Anderson, from State Line, California. Iva Lu Carter was mistress of ceremonies for the evening with Garth Tietjen and his saxophone furnishing the music, ' On hand for the evening together after 20 years were: Mr. and Mrs. Julian (Laurel Hamblin) Watson.
