Thomas Lawson said that he was asked by Mr. Sinatra what equipment was needed by the school, and said hat he would like to present the High School a gift before leaving Kanab. Mr. Lawson said that he drew up a list expecting Mr. Sinatra to pick one or two items from the list. However, Mr. Sinatra went down the list and had a check drawn up to cover 'the entire list of items which included: four new baskets and banks for the gymnasium, a wrestling mat, 11 complete football uniforms, a power mower for the football field, and four sets of weight lifting equipment. From current prices of such equipment we judge that the list must have run near $4,000, and we bet that the students and townspeople wont soon forget the fine gesture by Mr. Sinatra and his generosity and thoughtfulness. Scientists just havent found any evidence that cattle will seek out those mineral elements that may be lacking in their diet, he said. ; animals have been known to show abnormal appetites, he admitted, but the craving is not confine to items containing salt. Cows that have been denied salt will lick the hands and clothing of ranch hands but theyll also eat poisonous plants they others wise would avoid," he explained. Nowadays more and more rations are being mixed at the feed mill instead of being eater in the field, he pointed out. Also, ranchers are emphasizing speedy weight gains, which means that more nutrients 6are needed during peak periods of growth. Both these factors contribute to the danger of mineral deficiencies showing up in the stock, Werry pointed out. One way to be sure animals are receiving the iodine, cobalt, manganese, copper, zinc and other elements they need is to feed them trace mineralized salt instead of plain salt. Even if there are no apparent shortages of these elements in vour area, Werry told ranchers, trace mineralized salt can be good insurance. After all, your stock cant tell you what they are missing.
