When I first started studying range management, I knew that there was a difference in the of the different palatability grasses, and was pretty sure that there was a difference in the nutritive value. Recent studies by Wayne Cook, associate professor of range management, Utah State university, showed that both sheep and cattle made better gains on Intermediate Wheatgrass than they did on Tall or Crested Wheatgrass. These pastures are located in the Tintic Valley and near in northern Utah. The grazing was done in the spring, and during the summer drouth of 1956 the Intermediate Wheat-grasheld up better than the other plants.
