March 11th, the Parlimentary Team, which is composed of Garland Tait, Charles Brinkerhoff, lonzo Mackelprang and Douglas Ramsey, sec., and Owen Roundy, chairman, went to Tropic to compete for a berth in the State Convention March Also, Owen Roundy participated in the Speech Contest. The Chapter is this week electing next years officers. They will accompany the Parlimentary Team and Owen to the State Convention on the Arthur Tait, reporter Alonzo Mackelprang, assistant I certainly agree with their choice. I dont think there are any more progressive ranchers in the state than the Heaton Brothers. What beats me is the fact that I didnt submit a report at all this year. Since I have been in Kane County I have nominated the Heaton Brothers the School of Forestry sent me the nomination blanks, and every time I gave them a few thousand reasons for my nomination. I beieve that M. H. Galt of the Bureau of Land Management has done the same thing, so it might be our reports have piled up to where they couldnt be ignored any longer. It might also be that last year I told two judges what I thought of their judgement and took them ut to talk to the Heaton Brothers and see the work that they are doing in the field of soil and moisture conservation on range land. Both judges were greatly impressed. You just dont talk to men who are as converted to conservation, and see the work that they are doing without being impressed. No matter how the selection was Tnade, I am tickled to death to see them get some recognition for their leadership in the field of range conservation. Clean-U- p Set For April At a meeting of the Kanab Coordinating Council held Mar. 19, it was decided to ask the City Council to proclaim April as Kanab Clean-U- p Week. week is to be The clean-u- p part of the beautification project that is being pushed by all of the organizations ' in our com6-- munity. The Professional Womens Club, Kanab South Ward, the Schools, and the Jayeettes volunteered to each survey of the town and come to the next meeting with the town's problem areas designated. Each group prbmised to assist where needed. It was proposed that prizes for the best clean-ube given on a block and individual basis if prizes can be arranged for. It was also suggested that the Southern Utah Power Co. be. contacted and asked to paint their poles in the middle of town and that the State Road Commission be asked to blacktop from curb to curb the main highway thru town. It was also proposed that the cemetery fence be taken to be put down with barb-wir- e or fena suitable until hedge up ce could replace the old., fence. The program is primarily an individual program, however, and will succeed only if home owners will do their part. If each of us will paint and clean-upaint or remove our old fences and worthless sheds and barns, our town can look much better on Monday, April 14th than it will on Monday, April 7th. Lets all plan now to beautify our town during Kanab Clean-UWeek, April 6 to 13. Its your town, help to make it better. h p College. Winners at Dixie will go to the State Speech Festival at Provo.
