Show Page 4 November 26, 1964 Southern Utah News Frctlonia Hows and Current Events. . . By Ivts Farr Miss Beverly Brooksby was honored as the highest achieving girl and Mrs. J. B. Jordan as the highest rated instructor in the- Individual Award night presentation program at .Fredonia LDS Ward this week. Miss Brooksby has won the Sixth Year award while Mrs. Jordan completed Eight years under the Award program. The awards are given by Church leaders for attendance at meetings, participation in activities, payment of tithing, and - living a clean life. Mrs. Veldon (Dixie) Judd, president of Young Womens Mutual Improvement Association, Fredonia Ward, presented the winners to Keith H. Bryner, Bishops Counselor, who award- ed the certificates. Other outstanding winners were Misses Carolyn Stevens, RuLea Heaton, Sharon Johnson, and Katy Black, all Fifth year achievers. Girls receiving Fourth Year awards were Misses Laurel Stevens, Connie Brooksby, Mary Bess Farr, Susan Parker, and Latina Brooksby. Instructors receiving Fourth Year certificates were Mrs. Woodrow (lone) Johnson, Mrs. Gayneld (Rose Marie) Mackelprang, and Mrs. Oscar (Alta) Brooksby. Third year girls were Diana Mackelprang, Nedra Syme, Teresa Tait, Linda Heaton, and Arda Vee Henrie. Second Year winners were Sandra Anderson, Bur nace Button, Stephane Cusick lla Earley, Gena Henrie, Melaine Jens'en, Charleen Johnson, Begay, and Martine McCormick. presided at the meeting. Miss Farr and Connie Brooksby sang Oh, Lord, of Life, accompanied by RuLea Heaton. Prayers were by Merlin Bundy and Allen Judd. Stephen Bryner and Howard Stephenson were approved to be ordained as teachers in the Aaronic Prieshood. Recent visitors with Mrs. Jackson at Fredonia included her two sons and their wives, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Jackson,' Las Vegas, Nevada, and Mr. and Mrs. Weldon Jack-soEs-tel- n, Phoenix. four young, grandsons, Paul and Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Cram had Richard Campbell and Stuart and Sam Stevenson, while their parents were hunting. Their parents Mr. and Mrs. Dick Campbell, Tuba City, and Mr. and Mrs. John Stevenson, Phoenix, came for them last week. Fredonia High School band and chorus will perform at High School at an assemthis y bly week, according to diSchool Heaton, music rector. Some 65 members of the two groups plan to participate in the hour long program. This will be the concluding assembly before the Thanksgiving Ord-ervil- y. Each participating girl showed much persistence and effort in achieving these awards, Bryner said in closing. Johnson Bishop Woodrow Elsie Cameron was admitted November 18 for medical at- tention. Verdon Skaggs, age 64, was admitted November 19 for medical attention. Born to Mr. and Mrs. Paul Blackburn of Orderville, a girl, November 20. The little Miss weighed 6 lbs 3 oz. Marcellus Johnson, age 83 of Kanab, was admitted November 21 for medical attention. He is still confined. Ka-na- b, Mr. and Mrs. Benny Jordan of Fredonia welcomed a boy November 21. He tipped the holiday. Mrs. Walter Judd returned to Fredonia this week after spending 6 weeks in Las Vegas with her son and family and assisting with their three year old daughter who has been undergoing medical treatments. Mrs. James A. Maxwell of. Glendale was admitted November 22 for medical attention. Glen Hamblin of Kanab was admitted November 22 for major surgery.
