Mrs. Lvdia Jane Allen Hardy will celebrate hr 90th birthday anniversary, Sundav, November 4. at the home of a daughter Mrs. Marie Hepworth. in The dav will be scent quietly and all of her friends and relatives are invited to call on her duririe the day. She requests that no gifts be brought. She was born November 5, 1872 at Mt. Carmel. Utah, a daughter of Joseoh and Karen Marie Hansen Allen. She moved with parents to Orderville when the United Order was Initiated. She is the only living woman in the community who lived under the -- l United Order. Doing her early childhood, she recalls that one of her duties was to gather mulberry leaves from the trees that lined the main street to feed the silk worms. She went to Old Mexico with the family of one of her sister, after she was orphaned, to assist in the settlement of the colonies there. There she met and married John Dean Hardy. Seven children were born to them there. In 1913, Mr. and Mrs. Hardv returned to Orderville with their five living children. Her three sons and her husband have died since that time. She has always been very active in the Church of Jesus Christ of s 4nd has worked in all of the organizations. Mrs. Hardy has done much g handiwork and for her family and friends. She is an ardent reader and is well versed on current topics as well as past history. She is still active in doing work around the house. She has a very vivid memory and a keen sense of humor. Her two living daughters are Mrs. Nettie H. Dennett, Provo, and Mrs. Marie Hepworth, Orderville. She also has ,18 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren. Also any person who gives away, loan?, or disposes of a firearm to a child under the age of fourteen is guilty of a misdemeanor. This law will be strictly enforced throughout the state, in the hopes of cutting down accidents caused by the juvenile. Coordinating Group Elects Officers At First Meeting The Kanab Coordinating Council held its first meeting of the season under the direction of Chairman U. S. (Uke) Gardner. Other officers present were Delna Major, Vice Chairman, Esther Judd. Carl Hatch, Edyth Sennella, board members; and Diane Franklin, Secretary. The business conducted at the meeting included election of new officers and the setting up of goals to be accomplished this year. The new officers elected were Carl Hatch, Chairman, Janice Johnson Vice Chairman. Norman Swapp, Edyth Dame, and Norman Cram Board members. The Secretary has yet to be named. Goals set up for this year are to aid in the completion of the swimming pool and the landscaping of the grounds around it To help conduct the Community Clean up and to help the Park Commit te with the development of the Park area. V. , There were 14 members present representing various clubs and organizations throughout the town. Every club and organization is urged to appoint a member to the Coordinating Council.
