The gravel for the dam will come from Kane County. The bridge will be dedicated and in use in February. .When the dam is completed, five years from now, it will back up a lake 187 miles long, which will make accessible much more of our Southern Utah scenery. Because of the influx of people, mostly attracted by the new dam, Karjab is expending $521,00 on a sewer and water system and a sewer disposal plant. They have just finished a new addition to the existing air strip, a new ad- ministration building, and a taxi strip and access road; also, Kane County has just finished three new school buildings. Kanab Jaycees Mr. and Mrs. Vern Hv Anderson went to Salt Lake City last week end to se their son, Elder Sherill Anderson prior to his departure for his field of labor in the Norway Mission. Sherill left by United Airlines, 502 flight, at 1:50 Sunday morning. Landing In New York, he had a short layover, then boarded a Pan American plane for Oslo, Norway. They bowed ing to the strong Dixie Flyers but gained a lot of good experience in their first game. Playing in Kanab Wednesday night, the Cowboys played a losing but Interesting game against the strong Hurricane Tigers. With an inexperienced team, Coach Lewis Chatterly nevertheless put plenty of fire and willingness into his players to keep the Tigers playing their best bail. The conference is designed to train educators and others for leadership and public relations in attempting to put over the school program to the public. Wednesday afternoon saw the opening of a training session for about 25 educators at Kanab Elementary school. Registration of delegates was set from 3 to 6 p m. Thursday at Kanab Elementary school, to be foljowed by a dinner at 6 p m. in the Recreation Hall. Ernest G. Kirby, chairman for local arrangements, will offer greeting rangements, will offer greetings to the delegates. The conference proper will gef underway at 8:45 a m. Friday and at 1:30 p m. there will be the afternoon session. A special film, "Twelve Angry Men, will be shown to the delegates at the Friday afternoon session at 4:30 p m. From 7 to 9 p m. Friday, will be taken up with training group sessions. Saturday Sessions Saturday morning, training group sessions will be held from 9 until 10:45 a m , followed by a refreshment break, with the conference to at 12 noon. Sharon Atherly is back in Kanab again and is spending the remainder of her senior year here. We also have two new girls from Garden City, Kansas. They are Loma Milner and her sister. Core, nie Milner. Loma is a senior and Connie is a junior. We surely hope they like our school and decide to stay here for awhile. Everybody has made his or her New Years resolutions and, unfortunately, some of 'them are already broken. This Is a new year and one which, we hope,! will bring the accrediting of our High school. The Seniors especially are looking forward, because this year they graduate and take one of the big steps forward. J959 is a new year for everyone and we of KHS Intend to v make the most of it.
