We feel that this is no time for residents of Utah to be bickering among themselves. We also feel that editorials of the does nothnature of that carried in Thursdays all areas of this ing to encourage complete cooperation among state, and only makes the work of the Parks Commission more difficult to carry out through undue pressure from powerful Parks-Broa- well-know- DEE Creditors will present claims with vouchers attached to the undersigned at Kanab, Utah, on or before the 23rd day of November A. Following we give you a few paragraphs from the editorial, Most Utahns will Ik particularly happy, we feel, with the commissions decision following the recommendations of Pres. J. Reuben Clark Jr. to develop the This Is The Place Monument area instead of leaving it a vast wasteland." Going on further, The outlined plan for development is at least a good starting point for discussion. It includes and this right away building and staffing an information center that will le a credit to the location. Looking farther into the future, it includes enlarging and moving to that area the Sons of Utah Pioneers excellent pioneer village. It includes a hall of fame where statues of key figures in Utah history can be displayed. It includes a Hollywood Bowl-typ- e amphitheater and perhaps even a stadium for professional athletic events. More, These are big dreams. So are the other developments of which the commission is thinking a vast state recreational area around Great Salt Lake, the development of Little Switzerland Valsportsarea in the ley, the development of other parks and recreation facilities throughout the entire state." The last part of the last paragraph above has some encouragement, the development of other parks and recreation facilities throughout the entire state. j We know that there has to be a starting place in getting this State Park system started. AVe believe that it is badly needed in Utah. We do hope that the Park Commission can be left to think and plan as they see necessary. This writer believes in public opinion and press opinions only so far as they will go in benefiting the majority of the people. We hope that Chairman Fabian and Secretary Olsen will weigh all the facts in trying to set up the Parks and Recreation for the residents of Utah and the tourist and vacation business that we are so sadly lacking. We believe that improvements and attractions are necessary near large population centers, but we feel sure that a large majority of travelers are seeking to get away from crowded cities and population centers in search of relaxation and quiet. With a limited amount of money available for beginning this Park system, much harm can be done by putting tin) much in the wrong place at the loginning. , Sealed bids for about 100 squares of used tin roofing which consists of about 60 squares of roofing In very good condition and about 40 squares In good to fair condition will be received by the Fredonia School Board until 7:00 p.m. October 7, 1957, at which time bids will be opened and read. Bids must be submitted on the entire amount of tin for bid and prospective bidders may examine the tin at the Fredonia Schools before submitting bids. According to a Newsw eek tabulation, new appropriations were $6,200,000,000 below th ePresidents proposed budget. However, there is another side to this coin. It is described in a brief article in U. S. News & World Report, which says, Washington is beginning to hear from people back home who are being hurt by cutbacks in government spending. Individuals and organizations are vigorously protesting economy moves that affect their interests though, no doubt, they endorse economy as a general and abstract principle with equal vigor. Ironically, a large share of the complaints has come from local chambers of commerce. That includes the chambers in large cities and small. And these chambers are always among the first to demand government economy again as a general arid abstract principle.
