We stayed there all night in the Rural Arts building on the Aggie campus. The next morning we picked Up the last member of our party, Spencer Hawkins, received all the necessary details for the trip, and continued on towards Portland. We saw a lot of beautiful scenery on our way into Portland. Along the Columbia River we saw the Indians salmon fishing, we saw the Bonneville Dam fish ladders, and boat locks. There were many falls along the river, but the most outstanding was the Multnomah Falls, that were 260 feet high. The climate there was very damp and cold, no wind and sand. It rained most all the time. We reached Portland on Sunday night after Innumerable scenic trips. Monday, we went to the Pacific InLivestock ternational Exposition (commonly called P. L) and found our demonstrations were that afternoon. We all gave them despite the noise and cold, and they went off successfully. The next day; we went sight seeing the city. We crossed the Columbia River into Washington. The highlights of Portland were: The forestry building that Is the world's largest log cabin, the famous Lambert gardens, the grotto which is a Catholic We also saw their zoo, residential district, universities, and several old forts. While in Portland, we attended a banquet tor all and FFA members. They gave we 4 Utah demonst rators a silver medal award. 4-- ard Heaton.
