The convention, first of its kind ever held in Sugar House, will attract business and professional pro-fessional women from around the state as well as a national representative, Miss Marguerite Margue-rite Rawalt of Washington, DC. The convention will end Sunday Sun-day night with a full slate of activities scheduled over the three day period. The Sugar House club held a meeting at Harman's Cafe May 7 in which it formulated final plans for hosting the convention and elected officers for the year. Mrs. A. R. Topham, buyer for Keith O'Brien, was elected president of the Sugar House club replacing Mrs. A. J. Jimas, Mrs. Topham has served as vice president for the past year. 'Miss Mary" Louise Gilmer of CasUetons was elected vice president. Miss Melba Parker, Pacific Mutual Life Insurance, was named treafsure4 Mr?. R. A. Winder, General Typewriter Type-writer was named recording secretary. Mrs, Ted Miller was elected corresponding secretary. Saturday Banquet Highlight of the convention ' will be a banquet at 7 , p.m. Saturday honoring Miss Rawalt, immediate past president of the National Federation of Business and Professional - Women's Clubs. These women are serving as committee chairmen. of Utah Union Building. Miss Ada Burt, Utah president, will be in charge of the banquet. Music will be furnished by the South High School Choir directed by Armont Willardson. While the convention will be the first such in Sugar House, delegates will find the community going all out to make the occasion a memorable memor-able one. The Sugar House Club has. designated several committees to insure the success of the convention. Door prizes will be given at the luncheon at Highland High School Saturday with the prizes donated by Sugar House merchants or by club members Members of the Sugar House club will act as hostesses at different motels. A huge map has been prepared with all essential convention spots for the information desk at Highland High-land High School. Fashion Show Highlight of the luncheon Saturday at Highland High School will be a fashion show sponsored by Keith O'Briens. The theme of the fashion show will be "Swetetjest Fashions for the Sweetest Women." It will feature fashions for busi- See Convention on Page 6 CONVENTION Continued from page 1 ness and evening wear. The latest fashions from New Yory City will be modeled. Elaine Cannon will be commentator with Kate Davis in charge of the show. The Sugar House Chamber of Commerce and Mr. H. A. Sorensen will host delegates . Friday at 7 p.m. at the Sons of the Utah Pioneers Museum. Breakfast will be served Sunday morning at Harman's Cafe. A tea will be held at the Peace Gardens at 3 p.m. Sunday. Transportation will be furnished to the Peace Gardens with busses leaving from High, land High School. Mary Stroud, a graduate nurse will be in charge of the First Aid room. In keeping with the Sugar' House theme of the convention, candy will be furnished to all delegates at registration and all eventa. Guest Speakers , Guest speakers at the con-i vention will be Dr. Lloyd Wilcox, professor of sociology at Westminster and Dr. Homer Durham, vice president of the University of Utah. Election of new state officers will be held Sunday afternoon and installation of new officeis will be held that afternoon.
