Show ument, Talmyra, N.Y. The sculptor was born in Norway and immigrated to Utah to become a member of the LDS Church. He married Emilie Christensen Nov. 25, 1909 who died when a young woman. He married Rebekah Marie ' Jacobson in 1910. He has 13 living children. ! Mr. Knaphus studied in Kings Art School in Oslo, Norway, the Julian Academy in Paris, and the Art Students League in New York. Knaphus Noted Sculptor To Be Feted On Birthday Utah's famed sculptor, Torleif S. Knaphus, will be honored at an open house on his 75th birthday Friday, Dec. 14. Mr. Knaphus, who has sculptored many monuments and statues for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, just completed one of Heber J. Grant for the Sons of Utah Pioneers Village Museum.
