Pioneet Craft House, 3271 South 5th East, is a most amazing revelation to this reporter. Even visitors come to see it as far away as Malaya. On Tuesday morning, September 22nd, Mr. Abdul Razak from Malaya came to see the Pioneer Craft House to observe and study leisure time activities as a repre-sentati- ve of the International .Recreation Association under the Department of State. We accompanied him on his tour of the premises. He is shown being welcomed by Glenn J. (Mrs. A.L.) Beely, d-irector. The loom featured in the right belonged to the mother of the late John Widstoe, Apostle of the LDS Church and president of the University of Utah. It is over a hundred years old. Mrs. Beely is showing the intricacies of weav-ing to Judy Larsen, as Mr. Razak, Mr. Edward H McGean of the Salt Lake County Recreation Dept., and Principal Ernest Pizza from the Granite Junior High School. NEWS CAPSULES OF THE WEEK Everyone wonders if K's outbursts are: from anunstable, powerful man; calculated tantrums to inspire fear; or the result of exhaustion. Gov't finally realizes common courtesy the least we can show a visitor as San Francisco gives K vaunted Western hospitality. "We come to bury you" not to praise you. Everyone agrees that Mrs. K is charming; that "Eyewitness to History" (CBS-T- V) is a valuable public service. Everyone amazed by speed, unobtrusiveness, idiomatic translation of young interpreter. Everyone asking. "Is he editing?" Try to conceive of Ike losing his temper on his USSR tour. Labor Sec. Jas. P. Mitchell invokes new labor law against ex-convi- cts holding office in Teamsters' Union. Stike in Utah: 19,400 idle; $5,703,000 monthly wages lost; out of 262,000 work force, 40,000 predicted idle by Dec. 1st. Police Bldg. considered as new Federal site with approval of city officials.
