Show Page 8 SOUTH EAST INDEPENDENT Sugar House, Utah Thursday, July 4, 1957 Stake Reorganized The Midvale Stake was created Sunday at the East Jordan quarterly conference, and a presi-dent and two bishops were named in the organization. Reed H. Beckstead, president of the East Jordan Stake for the past six years, was sustained as new president of' the Midvale Stake. Donald Brady Milne, bishop of Union Fourth Ward, was sustain-ed as president of the East Jordan Stake. President Milne is a teacher in the Jordan School District and owns an interest in a real estate business. He and his family reside at 7410-13t- h East, Union. Coun-selors named are Stanley W. Burgon and Edward B. Erekson. President Beckstead has been superintendent of the Jordan School District since last August. He and his family reside at 169 Lincoln St., Midvale. Dorus A. Thomas was sustained as his first counselor and H. Keith Kel- - ler as second counselor. Each stake is comprised of six wards with the dividing line through 3rd East. Charter Night Plans For New Rotarians Charter night for the first Ro-tary Club In Murray will be held Monday evening with Bruce Par-sons installed as president and Wayne Ottley, vice president The club, sponsored by the joint efforts of the Sugar House and Salt Lake Rotary, has been organized under the direction of Jed Ashton and Howard Pingree, representatives of the Sugar House Rotary. Fifteen couples from the Sugar House club will represent the group at the charter night ban-quet, according to Neisen Bank, president of the Sugar House group. Celebration Planned , By Country Club A gala Fourth has been planned by the Oakridge Country Club, with entertainment for all ages. For the younguns, games have been planned, races will be run and tentative plans have been made for a water show. There will be swimming, and of course, golf for those so In-clined. Among those planning to at-tend are Mr. and Sirs. Stan Nel-son, .Mr. and Mrs. Owen Bunker, and Dr. and Mrs. Crelghton Mc- Neil and families. Little Leaguers in Two Games Monday evening in Sugar House Little League baseball Kiwanis downed Optimist 15-- 3. Tuesday's schedule was to see Laundry Supply meet Rotary. Due to the fact that July 4th falls on Thursday this year, the South East Independent is being published on Tuesday and full coverage cannot be given to all leagues and games in the circula-tion territory. Managers and sponsors of any team in the various leagues within the circulation area are invited to contact Ed Johnson of the In-dependent (IN giving next week's schedule and league standings. New Community Council Takes Office The new Olmpus Community's j first council officially took office Monday of this week. The group, seven men and two women, were elected May 7 from the surrounding communities com- - ; prising the area, which includes, East Mill Creek, Canyon Rim, Holladay and parts of the Cot- - I tonwood district. Chosen to serve two-ye- ar terms are C. Nelson Day, Dr. Frank F. Daughters, 2325 Arbor Lane; Eugene B. Duffin, 2792 Yuma Circle; Mrs. C. J. Kreidler, 2036 Lincoln Circle, and Mrs. J. C. The council was organized to promote and encourage new and better business in the area and to improve schools and recreation facilities.
