CDC3 Mt Fuel Supply Asks For New Rate Hike Mountain Fuel Supply Com-pany Friday asked the Utah Pub-lic Service Commission for an increase in rates to its custom-ers, subect to refund, to offset ja like increase in the price it must begin to pay Frebruary 5 for natural gas purchased from Pacific Northwest Pipeline CorDoration. Pacific's price increase, not subject to the jurisdiction of the Utah PSC, will be allowed to take effect February 5 by the Federal Power Commission, de-spite Mountain Fuel's opposi-tion before that body to the increase. W T. Nightingale, MFS presi-dent,' said his company had re: sisted and would continue to resist Pacific's increase, but had no alternative at this time but to apply for an offsetting in-crease. However, he pointed out that Mountain Fuel's application included provision for refunds to its customers should all or any part of the Pacific increase be ultimately disallowed. The utility estimated that the price hike proposed by Pacific would add a minimum of $1,058,-00- 0 annually to Mountain Fuel's gsa purchase bill. The company's resulting pro-posed offset rate would increase the price of gas to its firm customers by 4.25 per cent and is subject to interruption by to its customers whose service 3.07 per cent.
