Held Wednes-- (Independent Staff Photo) day, January 29, at the Salt Lake Country Club. The event honored retiring club president, Mackay. Young Democrat Set Workshop A Young Democrat Workshop is being1 held at the Newhouse Hotel Saturday, February 8th. The registration will begin at 9:00 a.m. In the morning a few-word- s will be given by Mrs. Kathleen Meikle, vice chairman of the Utah Young Democrats. There will be round table dis-cussions on the subjects, "Reaching New Young Demo-crats," "Planning New Activ-ities," Duties of Officers in the YD Organization," and "Young Problems." Democrats Organizing Finance Stewart L. Grow, of the polit-ical science department of Brig-ha- m Young University will, be a speaker. Later the film, "Pur-suit of Happiness," will be shown which is a history of hte demo-cratic Party. The 20 minute film will be narrated by Senator John F. Kennedy. Melvin Strong will dis-cuss "Who Are Problem Chil-dren" at the meeting of the East Mill Creek Chapter of the Sons of Utah Pioneers, Monday, Feb. 10 at 7 p.m. The dinner meeting will be held at Andy's Smorgasbord, 3350 Highland Drive with Harry Poll, pfesident, presiding. Special guests will be wives of members and all members may bring guests, according to Mr. Poll. Youth Called On LDS Mission Harry Ronald Poll, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Poll, left this week for the Central Atlantic States LDS Mission where he will serve as an LDS missionary for the next two years. Elder Romney was a special Kuest speaker at the testimonial held in the East Mill Creek Third Ward in the Canyon Rim Chapel. He will be serving in the area where Mrs. Poll's family settled. |
