Twice a month they meet for dinner at the home of one of the members, and don't have to feel ill at ease because they have no partners, which is often the case when attending affairs planned for couples and fam-ilies. The next meeting win be held February 6th at the home of Marge Hadden, 3616 Elmwood Drive. Guest speaker will be Dr. Robert Radesch and new people are invited to attend. Ottley's Announce New Staff Member Clinton Jacobs has joined the Ottley Decorating Staff in Mur-ray as manager of the retail store. He has had several years experience in sales and service and at present is attending special classes to help prepare him for decorating work. His management of the retail store will relieve Neal Cluphf, former manager, to concentrate on decorator counselling in homes. Podmore, 1351 Kensington Ave., recently ar-rived at Nurnberg, Germany for assignment as a service club di-rector with the Army's Special Services staff in Europe. SSpecial Service workers pro-vide entertainment and recrea-tion for Armed Forces person-nel. She was graduated fro mthe University of Utah in 1955. Holladay Study Group To Meet For TV Program The regular meeting of the Holladay Study Group of the Utah Federation of Republican Women was held on February 6th at 1:30 pjn. In the Tracy-Colli- ns Bank Bldg., in Holladay. Principle speaker was Mrs. Floyd Abbott, whose topic was 'Structure of Local Government. Mrs. Abbott is Representative of the 18th Legislative District to the State Legislature and is an active member of the study group. Mrs. James F. Perry gave a report on the Women's Legisla-tive Cauncil. Chief business of the group was the completion of the organ-- ization of the University of Utah study group, with Mrs. John Kasteler, president of the club, was in charge. The subject to be studied by this group will be "Decisions of 1958" and the topic was prepered by National Foreign Policy Association which is composed of policy makers for the government. This is a non-governmen- non-partis- an and non-prof- ia organization and its purpose is to help the American people inform them-selves on world affairs. Text will include first, a half hour of listening to lectures by experts from the University on the Television show over the new educational" channeT"KUED, channel 7. At the conclusion of the lectures, there will be a on hour discussion priod, during which time any questions which come up may be phoned in to the station. At the conclusion of the hour long discussion, a member of the original lecture group will again appear on the television screen and for another half hour will answer the ques-tions posed by the members of the study groups. All the materials for this study session, which will begin on February 6th and continue for 'nine weeks, will be furnished by the University of Utah. Anyone interested in joining this study class may do so by contacting the president Mrs. John Kasteler, at CR By Silver Spurs Carnival Planned At their regular meeting, held Monday, January 27th at the Firehouse in Murray, the Silver Spurs Riding Club, an all-wome- n's group, made plans for their annual Carnival Dance, to be held on March 8th, in the Na-tional Guard Armory in Mur-ray. Members of the committees include the following: Quilts Committee, Ruth Dixon, and Rae Pavich; Decoration, Norma , Williams and Ruth Nyggren; Cakes, Helen Khudsen, Mary White and Edith Fallentine; Ap-rons, Mary Pitts, Pearl Chaney and Ellen Reyberg; Clown Booth, Kay Alserda, Beverley Smith, Treva Hayden, Pearl Heaps, Dolly McKnight, and Bobby Moors; Dart, Beverley Hanks, Joy Christensen. Helen Knudsen and Mary White;) Wheel, Dorothy Rakes, Stella Tracy, Ethelyn Lovett, Edith Fallentine, Ruth Dixon and La-R- ae Pavich. Also helping on the wheel will be Ted Devine, Ruth Nyggren, Jean Allen and Maxine Atkin-son. On the surprise booth Nona Fox, Joyce Adams, Beverley Parks, Norma Williams, Jewel pfSleston, Doris Jones and Ruby Thomas, and handling the soft drinks booth will be Mary John-Elain- e Franklin, Mary Tripp, son, Edna Carter, Lila Webb, Donna Mae Tripp, Joyce Burkin-sha- w and Delia Whorram. . R. David Steele. The Rev. and Mrs. Steele, both native Salt Lakers, come to the Cottonwood church from the Deer Creek-Harmon- y Pres-byterian Church, in Darlington, Maryland. . The Rev. Steele is wel-kno-in Salt Lake City. He is a grad-uate of East High School and Westminster College, where he was prominent in athletic and scholastic activities. He received his ministerial training at Princeton Theological Seminary. His father and grandfather were former presidents of WWestmin-ste- r College.
