UTAH G Utah Graduates Over 1,600 A total of 1,607 persons have been graduated .from the Univer-sity of Utah this 1958-5- 9 academic year, including the 1,247 who re-ceived their degrees and certificate-s- Monday, June 8. In addition to the 1,247 June graduates, there were 360 grad-uates last August making a total of 1,607 for the year. This June the graduates receiv-ed 957 Bachelor's degrees; 162 Master's degrees; 48 Doctor of Medicine 36 Bachelor of Laws' 31 Doctor of Philosophy and Doc-tor of Education; 11 associate deg-rees certificates and diplomas and two, professional degrees. The graduates were from 32 of the 50 states and from 18 countries out-side' the United States. Graduates last August received 241 bachelor degrees, 114 grad-uate degrees (including bachelor of laws) and five certificates. National Guard Opens 15-- Day Training Period Nearly 4,500 army and air guardsmen from every part of Utah departed and Sunday, June 6th and 7th, for their an-nual two weeks summer camp at 10 different training sites, accord ng to Maj. Gen. Maxwell E. Riqh, Utah Adjutant General. Army Guard engineers will work on projects in Wheeler Can-yon near Ogden, the Brighton --Midway road opened last summer, Soapstone, near Kamas, Utah, and in American Fork Canyon. Artillery units and special troops will go to Camp Williams where they will conduct firing ex-ercises with 105mm, 155mm, and 8" ammunition in the artillery ranges west of the cantonment area of the 22,000 acre state owned training sight. During their tour of duty, the 653d FA Obsr Bn will spend 10 days at Dugway Proving Ground on a tactical ex-ercise. "All tactical units at Camp Williams will spend at least 3 days in the field on tactical prob-lems during the camp period," General Rich said.
