Amann, honoring the newlyweds. A reception wai held that even-ing at Crystal Heights Ward, 1970 East Stratford Avenue, with the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph A. Westra, acting as hosts. For the reception, the bride was gowned in an exquisite floor-lengt- h model of white satin, imported tulle. The scal-loped lace and pleated neckline was outlined with a Uny collar and the fitted bodice attached to a lace over skirt that fell in points over the pleated tulle The dress had short petal sleeves and the bride wore long lace mitts She carried a bouquet and white carna-tions. of pink roses Her fingertip veil of bridal illusion was held by a crown of pearls and appliqued lace medal-lions were scattered along the hemline of the veil. Attending the bride was her sis-ter Diane, Miss Eileen Coulam and Mrs. Sherwood Davis. They were gowned in shell pink cotton, striped with gold and wore white chiffon cumberbunds and lace mitts. Mrs. Westra selected a white sheath costume suit, underscored with blue taffeta for the occasion, and Mrs. Amann, the bridegroom's mother wore blue lace. Performing duties of best man Miss Sharon Westra became Mrs. Kent Amann Thursday in a Temple ceremony. was Artie Amann, the bride-groom's brother, and J. F. Benson and Mrs. LeGrande Lewis. A quiet, relaxing celebration for July 4th has been planned by the Nelsen It. Bank family. A re-freshing: swim at the Ft. "' NANCY HAYEN AM tablespoons black tea 2U cups Beet Sugar 2 cups unsweetened ap-ple juice cup lemon juice (fresh, frozen or canned) 2Vt quarts orange soda beverage TO MAKE tea base meas-ure 3 cups fresh water In a Vz quart saucepan, bring to a full boil. Remove from heat and add tea; f " in r Hr? if w tm, I brew 5 minutes. Strain into large container; add 3 cups cold water. STIR in Beet Sugar, apple juice and lemon juice, stirring until Beet Sugar is dissolved, WHEN ready to serve, add chilled soda beverage and pour into punch bowl. Float ice chunk in center. Ladle into pink-frost- ed cups to serve. Makes about 5 quarts. LIME-MIN- T ICE CHUNK: In the bottom of a small loaf pan arrange lime slices and sprig of mint in simple pattern; freeze firmly. Add thin layer water and freeze again; fill with water and freeze over-night into solid cake. Lemon slices may be used instead of lime. PINK-FROSTE- D CUPS: Measure Vi cup Beet Sugar into small bowl; add 12 drops red vegetable coloring and blend in with fork; let dry before using. Rub cut surface of lime or lemon around rim of each cup; dip into tinted Beet Sugar. Sugar House visitors this past week have been Lt. Cmdr. and Mrs. Rodney K. Win go and chil-dren, Richard and Gary. Mrs. AVingo, the former Fern Hanson, is the daughter of Mrs. Orson Hanson. The Wingos have been residing at Palo Alto, California, for the ' past two years where Lt. Cmdr. Wingo recently received his master's degree at Stanford Uni-versity. The Wingos will be travel-ing to Chicago, Illinois, where he will report for duty at the Elec-tronics Supply Depot, Great Lakes. They spent two years in Hawaii prior to living in Palo Alto. Wards Schedule July 4th Carnival Arbor and McKinley Wards are combining to present a Fourth of July Carnival at the new ded-icated lot. There will be breakfast and lunch served in the amuse-ment hall. In the evening and also afternoon dances will . be held. There will be booths and conces-sions and prizes for all. For those who like to pitch horseshoes there will be a contest as well. The ad-dress is 1S83 So. West Temple. Lunch will be served at noon. A children's parade, train rides, pony rides and the evening dance will begin at 8:30 p.m. "Around The Town" Miss Beverly King, San Fran-cisco, daughterof Sir. and Mrs. Clair King, flew in by Western Air Lines Friday morning to spend the week-en- d with her parents. The Salt Lake Ice Skating club members left for Sun Valley Wednesday where they will en-joy the holiday week-en- d skating orrthe famed rink at the lodge. In charge of arrangements are Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Anderson and Wendell Ii. Anderson. The group traveled by car-ab- out 30 of them--an- d wrill return the first of the week. The Andersons will motor up through the Sawtooths to Redfish Lodge for another week's vacation, fishing. . Gracious Nadine Jimas, new president of the Sugar House Business and Professional Wom-en- s Club, was hostess to board members at her Bountiful home Tuesday evening. These styles are particularly ap-pealing and unusual. Then, with the tempting array of fabrics to be seen there too, as well as in other yardage departments in Sugar House, it will be a delight to try a hand at sewing for the family. Paul Harrison just returned from a fishing jaunt to Fish Lake. His successful fisherman's luck netted him five fish . . . and there were the ones which got away! Scholarship Student Attends McGill U., Montreal, Canada Just received word from Lynn Howard, charming graduate of South High, who is attending Mc- Gill University, Montreal, Canada. Lynn is a recipient of a scholar-ship grant from the French gov-ernment and is attending the sum-mer session studying French. The classes are taught by movies, television, all programs presented at the school and the regular academic classroom period. And if one speaks any other language, even socially, it is cause for expelling, she informed us. Two years ago Lynn was an ex-change student to France and spent much of her time with a family in Paris. Prior to her re-turn home she also lived in the south of France on the French-Spanis- h border. The exchange student program is sponsored by the American Field Service. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Quentln Howard, 3010 St. Mary's Circle. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Orson H. Pratt, 3810 Parkview Drive, were Mr. and Mrs. Harold Deitrich and son of Butte, Montana. They were entertained over the week-end, and left Monday to return to their home. Attend Family Reunion Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Rock-woo- d, 2471 South 15th East, will be among guests who attend the Ire family reunion, Saturday, July 6. The reunion will be held at th Murray Eighth Ward in Murray Park. |
