Show S -from tho Services PFC Robert J. Strode, son of Mrs. Edwinna E. Strode, 710 Seventh Ave., recently completed com-pleted the 42-week Nike-Ajax guided - missle fire-control-system maintainance course at tthe Army Air Defense School, Fort Bliss, Texas. Strode entered the Army in 1957 and completed basic training train-ing at Fort Carson, Colorado. He is a 1955 graduate of West High School. Specialist Four Jack E. Swift, 21, son of Mr. and Mny Albert F. Swift, 337 Vincent ct., recently re-cently participated with the 8th Infantry Division in annual combat effeclency Army training train-ing tests in Germany. A member of Battery E of the division's 2d Artillery in Baumholder, Specialist Swift entered the Army in April 1956 and arrived in Europe the following: October. He attended East High School and was formerly employed em-ployed by Elias & Morris Tile Company. Pvt. Lawrence T. Dahl Jr., 25, whose fvife, Eileen, lives at 212 Canyon road, recently Completed the eight-week airplane maintainance course at the Army Aviation School, Fort Rucker, Alabama. Dahl, whose parents live on Ppcatello Crtek rd. entered the Army last June and completed com-pleted basic training at Fort Carson, Colorado. He was graduated from Jardan High School, in 1951 and from the Utah State University, Uni-versity, in 1958. Army PFC Bruce D. Phillips, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sidney L. Cohen, 1960 Wasatch dr., recently was assigned to the 701st Ordinance Battalion at Fort Riley, Kansas. Phillips, a radar repairman in the battalion's Headquarters and Company B. entered tho Army in March 1956. The 23-year-old soldier is a 1954 graduate of East High School and was formerly employed em-ployed by the Utah Power and Light Co. Two Army officers, Second Lieutenants Ronald D. Hampton and Gideon Hermann, recently recen-tly completed the officer leader course at the Infantry School Fort Benning, Ga. Designed for officers who have not served with troops, the eight-week course instructed them in the duties and responsibilities re-sponsibilities of an infantry unit commander. Lieutenant Hampton, 24, son of Mr. and Mrs. Loring B. Hampton, 2643 S. Sixth East, is a 1952 graduate of South High School and is a 1958 graduate of the University of Utah. He is a member of Delta Lieutenant Herrmann, 22, Phi fraternity. son of Mr. and Mrs. Julius Herrmann, 1161 Redwood dr., was graduated from West High School in 1954. A member of Lambda Delta Sigma fraternity, frater-nity, he was graduated from the University of Utah this year. Army Recruit Jerry C. Rogers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Crockett V. Rogers, 934 E. Fourth, S, recently completed light weapons instruction at Fort Carson, Colorado. Rogers was trained to as- sist in the firing of such crew-served crew-served weapons as the automatic auto-matic rifle, machine gun, rocket launcher, and portable flame thrower. He entered the Army last June and received basic training train-ing at Fort Carson. A 1955 graduate of East High School, the 22-year-old soldier attended the University of Utah and Utah State before entering the Army, |
