Next edition, we will feature Granite Park Stake. The South Salt Lake Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-- 1 day. Saints has an interesting begln- -I ning and here are some of the facts about its presidents and others in stake positions. The South Salt Lake Stake was organized September 2, 1941 with On May 5, 1957, Rolf Christiansen was called as the stake president and was serving when the stake was divided on February 22. 1959. He continued as president of the new Granite Park Stake and William T. South was sustained as the new president of the South Salt Lake Stake. President William T. South had been serving as die second counselor in the stake presidency under President Christiansen. Prior to Good Luck South Salt Lake News from Pevoe J. Andres hi as the first stake president. On May 18, 1952 he was released and S. Ross Fox was sustained as the new stake president. Axel then he had been bishop of the Haven Ward for eight years and as a counselor for 12 years. He bad 3-- served for three years as a missionary in die Czechoslovakian Mission among many other church assignments. He Is presently employed by the Salt Lake County as an administrative assistant with Commissioner Phil Blomquist. Hurst, first counselor in the presidency, has served as counselor since die appointment of president South. Prior :o this time he had served as a counselor in the Kimball Ward bishopric and as South Salt Lake stake conference, under the direction of President William T. President V. Allen Olsen was called as second counselor May 30, 1965 replacing Forace Green who moved from the stake. His previous church assignments have included a member of the Logan Stake presidency for seven years and bishop of the Young Ward for 10 years. He served for 34 months as a missionary in the Czechoslovakian mission. He farmed in Cache Valley prior to coming to Salt Lake City where he has worked for the Utah Farm Bureau and is presently the executive secretary of this organization. He has been called to serve on many important committees in the stake as a representative of Utah Farm Bureau and was recognized as farm leader of Utah 2 years ago. He served one term on the South Salt Lake City Council. Important events during May in the South Salt Lake Stake include: Friday, May 3 the show called, is Family Night to Remember being sponsored by the stake and will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Granite Park Junior High. Tickets for this event can be purchased in the individual wards. Stake Conference will be held on May 26. There will not be a General Authority assigned at this conference, but it will be an outstanding Phone for League Reservations: iGoocf Luck!! Lloyd Utahn Returns, Brings Plaque A Bountiful man named '..The Phu Cat Kid was fbllowed home from Vietnam by a plaque signed by firends and buddies with whom lie had served. David Lloyd, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lamond, 410 East Burton Avenue, recently returned home from the Far East after serving on a three . months tour of duty. He served., in. : t Vietnam and Tiawan. , He is an equipment specialist mid had many harrowing experiences while cm active duty. Before leaving for duty he was presented with an award for achieving 98 percent accuracy with his work on missiles. The plaque reads, Kernel Dave L. Lloyd The Returned War Hero. Is presented with this plaque for meritorious service in combating the rat situation in the Phu Cat South East Asia. David lives in Bountiful with his wife Joyce and their four children.
