Generally all segments of society could not be satisfied with all the legislation enacted into law. Yet, it seems the groups we helped the most are the ones most dissatisfied. Be that as it may, certainly it is nowr time to where we stand as a take inventory and people. The appropriation act of 1969 was a masterSenator Wallace piece of juggling and adjustment. and his committee based their final conGardner clusion on reports and action of the legislature to increase the tax burden and from what source it would come. The one cent sales tax increase evidently was the only possible way to aliminate the huge state deficit and balance the budget. Moderate salaries increases were provided elected officials and state and school employees. Some new services were provided in the school program; others were deleted or modified. Weeks of study, after public hearing were held, only seemed to confuse important issues. Little prevailed between the taxpayers who stoutly condemned tax increases of any kind and those who asked for inflated salaries and services. To critically review the final conclusions and actions of the 38th legislature those wrho will be the main benificiaries of legislative achievement had better take a second look at their pay checks twice a month and ask themselves what they would do should they be forced to provide for their family on incomes of much less value received by more than forty per cent of our state population. Daily, each of us should thank God for His Goodness. For this great land of America. For opportunities to serve our fellowman in any capacity, so long as we have some of the good things of life. Our demands should not exceed our needs, and we should be hopeful that the bounties of life we enjoy will be spread more equally amongst all segments of society for the good and blessing of all mankind. re-consi- der sub-commit- tee .ociide rfibiect TVecU un-inim- Kmttetk S' Ktfdc The Salt Lake Temple was the setting Wednesday evening, March 19th for the wedding of Miss Louise Allred and Mr, Kenneth E. Each morning thereafter the session was opened with prayer by members of the Senate and others chosen by some members to fill the position for them. These sacred petitions to God were earnest and sincere supplications for divine Inspiration to remind each member of his duty and dedication to do his best.
