Less than 30 days ramain to check up on what we intended to do last January and what we have actually done to fulfill the hon- est pledges we made with ourselves at that time. With 20 days left we can't hope to quite catch up, but with an earnest desire to fill the minutes of each day with good thoughts, kind deeds and selfless service that brings love, hope and faith to those less fortunate, and to those who would rather die than live, then the remaining days of this year will have much more value on the credit side of our yearly ledger. The care of health was one of the items many people pledged to follow and some have achieved their goal by persistent effort Their lives have been enriched and their capacity increased to serve their families and others in greater measure. Recently while talking with a young man who is bedridden with cancer he was asked what he thought was most important in life and after some moments of deep thought he said, "I believe health most important because without it no person can be really happy and find joy in serving others. One year ago I had no idea my health would be impaired, yet an annual checkup might have indicated that rouble was brewing and could have been corrected. But now it is late and corrective measures seem fruitless." A few years ago a very fine woman in our community, as she visited friends for the last time said," I believe physical health somewhat depends on spiritual health. Most people with a religious background, that serve others in various capacities seem to throw off many informities that beset others. Their famseems to keep the family together with less sickness ily home-lif- e and better progress in school, church and community activities." I suppose none of us has the full answer to what is best, but when we pledge to improve ourselves, and help our neighbors more, render fuller public support to those in public service, give of ourselves with our alms then our yearly resolutions become a permanent part of our lives. Letter to the Editor LETTER TO THE EDITOR: The time is here, all this talk about the release of the crew of the Pueblo, and nothing much Is being done apparently In the release of this fine crew of honorable American serviceman.
