Far from it It is, in fact, one of the most curable of the major diseases. Yet the Society also points out that more than 100,000 Americans, who might have been cured, will die of cancer this year. If their disease had been diagnosed and treated in time, chances are they would be alive and well. Why wont they be? of them have doubtless heard Many perhaps most of the need for early diagnosis and treatment. Thanks largely to the cooperation of the nations press, the Society has been able to bring its message to the attention of a big percentage of the American people. Carlson, announced his candidacy for the office of Salt Lake County Commis- sioner. Mr. Carlson stated that he, along with the great majority of our local residents, has been very disappointed with the continual bickering and mismanagement which has plagued action to give the people the best government in the nation. Mr. Carlson states he will use four guiding principles on the cente of his campaign: 1. Honesty is the whole of government. 2. Energy and intelligent persistent action solve problems. 3. Loyalty to the besieged tax- payer. 4. Pride in an improved com- munity environment. Mr. Carlson pledges that he will bring honesty which respects the highest spirit of the law to our county offices. He further pledges that he will devote full time and energy to providing service to the public and immediate action on our many pressing problems.
