The Democratic Party of Utah was well represented In the state senate during the 38th session of the legislature. The eight men chosen by the voters of the 8 districts very well represented their constiuents. Certainly they stood together as a body when political Issues were Involved, but when it comes to supporting legislation that Involved principles of Importance they voted as free men. Many times their vote was divided according to each senators Idea of what he thought was best. After all the pros and cons were deliberated It was their prer-ogitlto vote according to the Issues and In accord with the citizens interest In the legislation. All of these men were courteous, kind and quite considerate of the majority partys view point even though they didnt always agree with some dlclslons as a result of party caucuses. Do you need to do a little painting? How about the rubbish and junk In your side yards? Would a couple of shrubs change the whole personality of your lness? Just A Little Kick: A moonlighter Is a man who holds day and night jobs so that he cart-- drive from one to the other in a better car. ScUfoiiat'. This is the land of liberty and freedom. A land where 35,000 young people can give voice to their, opinions and protest for the good things life has to offer. Surely they made a grand impression as they stood for: they heralded the Five Virtues be lief in God and that He loves us; love of our planet and country; love of our family; reverence for our sexuality, and equality for all men. Each one of these virtues if lived by will certainly keep America the greatest country on earth, and will subdue all enemies including war at home or abroad. When teen age speakers speak out on such subjects as God, parents, patriotism, sexuality and brotherhood America should be proud of this generation of young people, who, of their own accord, stand for the same high moral principles and standards espoused by past generations that helped build the greatest nation on earth. Utah, too, has a great and lovely generation of youth. As we witnessed their enthusiasm in the galleries of the house and senate while the legislature was in session, it was thrilling to watch the pleased expression as they and their teachers were recognized from the floor. It is good to live in this day and time and to be a part of an expanding universe. To witness the greatest events history has ever recorded; to feel that possibly in our day we may witness the brotherhood of man and the fatherhood of God ushered in, and universal peace become a reality. God grant that this might be the heritage of this, or not later than the next, generation. : j j - CHURCH MEWS J.V.S.
