Tne 15.4 pet. increase in crime in Salt Lake County and arrests at only half this rate indicates a great need for a complete review of the causes and of what can and ought to be done now to correct this serious situation. Perhaps we have depended so much on law inforcement in years past that we have been hopeful this was the best way to correct all of our problems in delinquency of adults and youth. It might now be the time to spend some public and private funds, and organize the unlimited forces within the public realm for a realistic campaign of "Law O- bservance'. The various categories of crime committed during the first half of could be lessened by fifty percent or more through a vigilant, militant and well organized campaign of "Law Observance". All state offices slated for the November election will have liveprimary contests between canly didates vying for the various offices of state government. These candidates now must travel the campaign trail and enlighten the electorate on their views of the many important issues involved in this years election. No candidate, at this time, can be absolutely sure of winning in the primary, nor when the votes are counted in November. There is no doubt the delegates chosen at the Mass Meetings by the people represented their constituents effectively and gave back to the people the right to choose the candidate they want to support in the general election. This is a perfect demonstration of good Democratic government in action, and should reflect in better administration and economical expenditures of the peoples money. The Republicans are to be congratulated in the conduct of their great convention. From the opening round on Friday until the close of the Saturday afternoon every action moved smoothly and effectively. The nearly 1500 delegates were alert and attentive to the talks of the various candidates which added much to the success of the two day program. Attorney con--venti- Youth Symphony Thrills Audience The crowd at Liberty park Sunday evening gave the Granite Youth Symphony a standing ovation at the close of their outstanding concert. In spite of warm weather, listeners were very enthusiastic about the performance of these youth. The concert started with Finlandia by Sibelius, then the Finale from Symphony No. 5 by the Russian Composer, Schostakowitsch. Blues in 68 followed with a selection from and Beethoven's 5th Symphony A next. Trumpet Voluntary coming masterful redition of a medley from Camelot was then presented, with a Spanish dance number, El Relicario as the final number. Dave Potter on the timpani did a great job and Robert Sudbury as trumpet soloist was outstanding. The Symphony Group, 90 in number, will leave from Granite High School Wednesday, July 17 at 5:30 a.m. for Yellowstone National Park. A box lunch will be eaten by the Snake River at Idaho Falls, Idaho that day. A concert will be given that evening in the Old Faithful Recreation Hall. Thursday the 18th they will perform at Lake Lodge and afterward the Granite High Stage Band will play for a dance. Friday, July 19 they will return to Old Faithful to give another performance and another dance. In between times there will be tours of the Park.
