Show Thursday, April 9, 1970 SOUTH SALT LAKE NEWS Page 3 Around And About The Schools Central Junior High Former Central Junior High Principal Receives Award Mr. Alma Edwards, principal at Cyprus and former principal of Central Jr. High was named recipient of the American Educators Medal. Receiving such an award is a very high honor. Mr. Edwards was selected for this award by the Freedom Foundations national and school awards jury. Mr. Edwards was chosen to receive this award because of his outstanding achievements as an administrator and for his efforts to further the fundamental principles of education. Mr. Edwards was one of the principals throughout the nation to receive this honor. On the Freedom Foundation Award there is a part on the plaque which says, For outstanding achievement in bringing about a better understanding of the American way of life. Education is just one of the ways in which Mr. Edwards has accomplished this better understanding. Mr. Edwards is a former principal of Central Junior then to Granger and High then to Cyprus. 27 School Hews The kiddies are coming! The kiddies are coming. At least at Central Junior High School they are. The annual C Days will be held April 16 and 17 and on the 16th students and faculty win dress up as kids and famous people. Then on Friday, King and Queen DUf will be held. In the morning the girls will serve the boys and in the afternoon the roles will change. A dress standards committee under the chairmanship of Mrs. Oliver has been set up to establish standards of dress. Their recommendations will be presented in an assembly Friday, April 10. The idea will be put over via a humorous assembly under the direction of the PTA. Part of the assembly will be the announcement of the winners of Centrals 10 best dressed girls and boys.
