As the years pile up and physical abilities decline, often an older person finds themselves literally at loose ends. In the Metropolitan Salt Lake area there are thousands of senior citizens who need friends, food and fun. Meals on Wheels is attempting to meet the needs of these people. The food is the easiest. This need is being met both by bringing meals to elderly people and by providing to those who can travel to the center in the Salt Lake County Hospital Complex a hot noon meal and the companionship they need as badly as the food. Each Thursday there is in addition to the meal, a special program for the senior citizens. There is soon to be a marriage as a result of the socials at the center, so two peoples needs for companionship have been met. For a minimum cost, the meals may be delivered, if the person cannot travel to the center. For $1.00 per day for a general diet or $1.25 for a special diet, the food is delivered hot to the door. If the eldperson can travel to the center. erly ' the noon meal can be purchased for only $.50.
