Pat Inspects White House Pat Nixon is looking forward to moving into the White House from the point of view of a housewife rather than a politician. The executive mansion is "a house that shows someone cares Mrs. Nixon noted on a recent tour of the house that will soon become her home. Mrs. Nixon, who will become the First Lady in January, said her visit with Mrs. Lyndon B. Johnson and the guided tour of the mansion gave her a chance to see renovations completed during the Kennedy administration. She said afterwards she hadnt seen so much of the White House even during the Eisenhower administration when her husband was vice president. Retain Offices as Voters Speak With a great deal of confidence we congratulate Governor Calvin L. Rampton who will continue to represent Utah for the next four years. In his efforts to promote the state and secure more business and industrial enterprises we wish him continued success. The overwhelming vote he received Nov. 5th speaks for itself as an index of the confidence and love the people have for him as governor of the state. Certainly the citizenry will look forward to a united front on the part of the governor and the handily in the .election Nov. 5. Clyde L. Miller will continue for another four years as Secretary of State. This is the second highest office in the State and carries with it a multitude of im- terruption. Congratulations Clyde, and suc- cess to you for the next four years. Della Loveridge was returned to the House of Representatives. This will be her 8th term in the House and she will assume some leadership in the minority group. She is at present holding portant responsibilities. During the past four years he has been acting governor many times. Each time Governor Rampton leaves the State it is incumbent that Mr. Miller assume the role of governor so that State business and functions continue without in- - some very important offices in the House. Burton Won by Big Margin Voters Mandate ONLY Sweeps Out $fl99 Liquor by Drink EACH Legislature must take action in providing better positive for the distribution and legislation control of liquor. The positive mandate of the vote against liquor by the drink doesn't mean we should bypass the better distribution part of any liquor law. Some way, somehow a third of the people said, "Provide some means for us to get a drink instead of a drunk. To avoid consistent violations of any liquor statute the Legislature had better study the possibilities very closely. Now the NOW BUY One-At-A-Tim- two-to-o- ne Central Jr. High News The Central Junior High PTA will consultasponsor parent-teach- er tions on Nov. 20 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Among other activities sponsored by the PTA will be a meeting on Feb. 17; the Honor Banquet; Fathers and Daughters' Night, and Mothers and Sons Night. Mrs. Lyman Smith, PTA president, urges greater participation and interest hi the childrens school activities on the part of the parents. PTA officers are: President, Mrs. Smith; first vice president, Mrs. Robert Taylor; second vice president, Dix McMullin, who is also school principal; secretary, Mrs. Jack Oliver, and treasurer, Mrs. Jack Malaska. New officers will be elected in April. In honor of Veterans Day, Central Junior High School had an assembly under the direction of Neil Workman. The mixed chorus, conducted by Roger Johnson, sang three songs: Bom to be Free, "The Green Beret, and "Let There Be Music. The mixed ensemble sang "My Own America. The concert band, directedby Mr. Gerald Lobrot, accompanied the mixed chorus in Bom to be Free and also played "Award Ye People . The guest speaker, Mr. Hal Sperry, who is the 8th grade counselor at Central, spoke on patriotism. A film cm the history of the United States flag was presented. As the program ended, the student body and faculty stood while the concert band accompanied them in the national anthem. e!
