Searle Communication is the source of all knowledge and at a time when individual liberties are being taken away, the greatest safeguard is an enlightened citizenship, kept so by freedom of speech and press. Noel F. Ericson, street department superintendent The South Salt Lake street department gives its approval to a local newspaper. A local newspaper will give the department an opportunity to better inform the citizens of the city's road programs, present and future. If the street department has to spend two hours with a paving crew of 10 men, moving parked cars from the street to be resurfaced, 20 hours have been wasted and hours cost money. A local newspaper can keep the public informed of the department's plans and alert the citizens to what action the department wants citizens to do to help get the work done. A better informed city is a better organized and efficient city. Richard M. Taggart, chamber executive vice president Your chamber of commerce bids a warm and' gracious welcome to the new South Salt Lake News. We believe communication is the key to continued success and cooperation between city officials, local citizens and the business community. The Bible says, Where there is no vision (communication or enlightenment) the people perish.
